Welcome to Indonesia. It is a great honour for the organizing committee to


welcome the participants of the 7th Congress of APTSA, which will be held from
11-13 August 2016 in Bali, Indonesia.

Taking a central theme The Development of Physiotherapy Treatment Approach


in Neurological Rehabilitation, I wish the 7th APTSA Congress canprovide a
venue to share knowledge and experience among Physiotherapy Student in Asia
especially whohave interest in Neurological Rehabilitation. We have to enhace
our international competiti

We hope the congress can give the way to share the most talked topic about
neurological condition in Asia with evidence-based studies. We can also share
information and condition about neurological physiotherapy from different
countries in Asia. What we get in the congress, we can make it as a topic
discussion to stakeholder or government in designing strategic planning for health
system especially about physiotherapy in our country and development of the
regions. Its wonderful.

Not only sharing knowledge and expriences, the 7th APTSA Congress also wishes
to extend the network, friendship and cultural exchange among the participants, to
gain a better understanding of a diverse Asia.

The 7th APTSA Congress is supported by Indonesian Physiotherapy Student


Association. Welcome you all to Bali, Indonesias Paradise Island.

B. Background of the 7th Congress of APTSA
The Asia Physical Therapy Student Association (APTSA) as an organization
is like a home for all physiotherapy student in Asian countries to build a good
collaborative activities. The mission of APTSA are :
To promote regional cooperation and interaction among physiotherapy
students in Asia.
To expand the horizon of physiotherapy students and to improve the
environment of physiotherapy education
To enhance unique regional characteristics and international
competitiveness for physiotherapy students in Asia.

One of APTSA program to reach the mission, APTSA hold a congress each
year.As theresult of annual meeting result of 6th APTSA Congress, Indonesia as a
host for the 7th APTSA Congress.

The central theme is The Development of Physiotherapy Treatment


Approach in Neurological Rehabilitation. Every body movement involves a
complex interaction between the central nervous system, nerves and muscles. As
we all know that any damage in brain may result movement disorder. Its a main
duty for physiotherapy to restore maximum function movement. Movement is a
central mission of the brain.

Physiotherapist have handled neurology cases which result movement


disorrder, such as Stroke and Cerebral Palsy. physiotherapy treatment approach
involve the re-learning or re-establishment of movement pattern that help the
condition. Physiotherapy treatment approach for neurological condition is
growing with evidence based, but the speed of development neurological
physiotherapy treatment is different from each countries in Asian Region.

For that reason, as the future physio that have interest in neurological
rehabilitation, we need a venue or home to discuss, share information, enhance
knowledge about physiotherapy treatment approach especially in neurological
condition. 7th APTSA congress is like a golden opportunity to know more about
neurological physiotherapy from different countries in Asian region.

A lot of people who have neurological disorder such as Stroke can decrease
their quality of life cause activity limitation. Its due to the brain has the problem.

physiotherapist can help to increase the quality of life with our knowledge and
skill. Almost every countries have Stroke Center or disability foundation.
physiotherapist in neurological field is an important part of healthcare system.

Speaker Information form
1.Professor Sheila Lennon

Current Role: Professor of Physiotherapy at Flinders


University, Adelaide, Australia

Professor Sheila Lennon qualified as a physiotherapist at


McGill University in Canada in 1979. She has worked in
neurorehabilitation in Canada, Switzerland, and the United
Kingdom. Sheila is the inaugural Professor of Physiotherapy
and coordinator of the graduate entry Master of
Physiotherapy programme at Flinders University in
Adelaide, Australia. She is the author/editor of over 45
peer-reviewed publications including a Pocketbook of
Neurological Physiotherapy with Professor Maria Stokes. Sheilas main research
interest is the evaluation of physiotherapy practice in the area of exercise therapy
and physical activity for health and well-being for people with neurological
disability in particular in relation to stroke and multiple sclerosis. Sheila uses
mixed methods designs to study the effectiveness of specific exercise or activity
based interventions with an emphasis on self-efficacy and self-management.
Sheila was awarded Fellowship of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in 2010
in recognition of her research in neurorehabilitation.

2. Moh. Ali Imron, M.Fis

Current Role : Head of Physical Therapy Program Aisyiyah Health Science


College of Yogyakarta and President of Indonesian Physiotherapy
Association.

Mr. Ali Imron qualified as a physiotherapist at


Surakarta Health Polytechnic in Surakarta and then
graduated from Master of Physiology concentrate
of Physical Therapy at Udayana University Bali,
Indonesia. He has worked as Manager of Physical
Therapy departement at OMNI Hospital since
1995 2015. His research is about Community
Rehabilitation Program and People with Obesity, Physiotherapy for Geriatric.

3. Herdin Rusli, S.Ft, Physio, M.Kes

Current Role : Lecture in Neurological Physiotherapy at Hasanuddin


University.

Mr. Herdin qualified as a physiotherapist at Hasanuddin


University in Makassar. He has worked as physiotherapist at
Physiotherapy Center Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since
2003 2008. Now, he is working at Physiosakti Clinic and as
lecture. His research about The Effect Of Propriceptive
Neuromuscular Facilitation Exercise On Muscle Strength
And Walking Ability In Patients Post Stroke

4. M. Irfan, SKM, S.St.Ft, S.FT, M. Fis

Current Role : Lecturer and Chairman Research,


Development and Certification Indonesian Physiotherapy
Association (IPA)

Now, Mr . Irfan as a Chief of Editor Indonesian


Physiotherapy Journal and CEO of Excellent Physiotherapy
Clinic and Research Development. His main research about
stroke. He is also a writer ; Fisioterapi bagi Insan Stroke.

5. Pramudya Utama, S.St.Ft, M.Fis

Current Role : General Secretary of Indonesian Neurological Physiotherapy


Association

He received a diploma degree of Physiotherapist in Universitas


Muhamadiyah Surakarta on 2002. Subsequently, he went to the
diploma IV of Physiotherapy in PoliteknikKesehatan Surakarta
and graduated in 2007. Then, he pursued a Masters degree of
Physiology that mainly concentrate on physiotherapy at Udayana
University and graduated in 2015.

PramudyaUtama, Sst. Ft. M.Fis is a person that can be admire by


his diligence in performing a job, especially in the field of physiotherapy. He has
a lot of work experience, namely in CikalSheat Clinic (2003-2005), in
SasananaHusada Home Care Service (2004-2005) and in Business Development
SasanaHusada Group.

Now he works at Carmel Stroke Service, Surya Physiotherapists Medica Clinic
and Stroke Services and Ciputra Medical Centre. He was appointed and given
responsibility for work in many places because he never get tired to gain new
knowledge and experiences by enrolling in a lot of training. There are several
training that he have been enrolled, namely Basic Bobath Course by Kim Brock in
Jakarta in 2009, Advanced Bobath Course by GerlindaHasse in Jakarta in 2011,
PNF Basic Course (level 1 and 2) by Hwang SeongSoo in Jakarta in 2012 and
PNF Advanced Course by Hwang SeongSoo in Jakarta in 2015.

6. Ahmad Syakib S.Ft, SKM

Current Role : Head of Indonesian Pediatric Physiotherapy Association

Mr. Syakib qualified as a physiotherapist at


Makassar Health Polytechnic. He has a lot of
professional qualification that concentrated about
Neurological Rehabilitation in Pediatrics. He is as
a Coordinator at Pediasuit Center , Coordinator of
School and Child Development Clinic at Keanna
Center, and also as a lecture.

Treatment Approach in Neurological Rehabilitation

The following content is suggested in your 15-minute slideshow presentations:

1. The history and development of neurological physiotherapy in your


country/region.
2. The related education and training opportunities. ( Master of Neurological
Physiotherapy, master of Neurological Rehabilitation, Bobath workshoop,
etc.)
3. The roles of physiotherapists in interproffesional collaborative practice for
neurological condition in your country. has your country involves
physiotherapist in Interproffesional collaborative practice ?
4. What is the common case of neurological disorder in your country which
requiring physiotherapy treatment ?
5. The clinical practice of physiotherapists in neurological rehabilitation (for
neurological problems in pediatric and geriatric) and the related use of
evidence-based practice, including current protocols or skills being
adopted (e.g. PNF, Bobath technique, etc.)
6. The limitations encountered by physiotherapists in the practice of
neurological rehabilitation.
7. The role of the government for disability person to get physiotherapy
services.
8. How we could promote a healthy lifestyle to prevent neurological
disorders ( prevent alzheimers disease, prevent stroke attack, etc)
