creativity, and
collaborative Narrative A mystery lesson was chosen as the activity because it
created a fun, hands on learning environment for the
problem solving students. It integrated all of the skills each student had previously learned, and
related to required them to think critically and analyze each clue given. The most
authentic local and challenging part of the lesson was for the students to realize that the two
innocent triplets paid seven dollars each to bowl, and that we didnt necessarily
global issues. know everything the innocent ones did- but we did know everything the guilty
triplet did. By giving the students a real world scenario, they had to collaborate
with another to solve a real issue.

Evidence
This mystery lesson focused on adding and multiplying
decimals in a real world situation. The students were given
The Case of the Troublesome Triplets- one triplet stole
money. Various clues were given to the students about
each of the triplets, and the mystery gave every detail
needed to solve the crime. The students broke up into
pairs to collaborate with one another and to solve this
real-world problem.

Reflection
The mystery lesson plan was a great way for the
students to collaborate with one another. They were so
excited and focused on solving the problem in front of
them, which really enhanced their learning experience.
Giving the students real life situations and making a
mystery out of it deviates from traditional worksheets.
Mystery lessons are something I would gladly
implement on a regular basis.
