Instructional Objective: Students will be able to predict the sequence of events in a story.

Anticipatory Set: Students will look at the front cover of the book that we are going to
be using, read the title aloud, and will share one thing that they think this book is going to
be about. (3 min.)
Modeling: The teacher will introduce the skill of the week, plot and theme, and
will model how to sequence events in a well-known story (such as Goldilocks and
the Three Bears). (2 min.)
Guided Practice: Students and teachers will go through the text together identifying
pictures and headings, and describe what the illustration shows and how that might
relate to the plot (6 min.)
Independent Practice: Students will independently read the text, and the teacher
will tap-in to hear the students read aloud. (7 min.)
Closure: Each student will write down in their journal one prediction they have of what
the ending might be to the story, and write a question that they want answered from the
text. (2 min.)
