The Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), a premier national institute has
been given the mandate of integrating development, environment and conservation
and livelihood management into the government, corporate and industrial sectors. It
produces world class professionals in this unique sector.
The Post Graduate Diploma in Forestry Management (PDGFM) is a course that is
constantly evolving to meet the challenges and rapidly changing dynamics of market,
society and the environment in the current scenario of globalization and liberalization.
This flagship program of IIFM, since its inception, has been at the helm of developing
the most vibrant and responsible managers, with knowledge and skills required for the
holistic and green development of the country and the world.
PGDFM students have firmly established themselves in India and all over the world
over the last 27 years. They have not only performed with excellence in the fields of
development, environment and conservation & livelihood management in which they
specialize, but many have gone on to play traditional business management roles,
where they bring their unique perspective to obtain high success.
Each year at IIFM we have adapted the course to take into account contemporary
developments in our allied sectors, and this is reflected in the expertise of our graduates.
I fully expect that the multidisciplinary and holistic approach that characterizes our
students will contribute richly to the success of the organizations that recruit them
alongside the interests of the students.
The placement experience for organizations with IIFM since inception has been
consistently a mutually beneficial one. The interest of the prospective and continuing
employers, in the students of IIFM has been a source of inspiration to all of us.
With great pride, I introduce you to the 27th batch of the PGDFM at the Indian Institute
of Forest Management and extend a warm welcome to your esteemed organization
to recruit from the PGDFM 2014-16 batch.
This batch of PGDFM had the Directors dictum as Success comes in cans and failures
in cants and thus they have grown with such commitment. I am confident that you
will all have yet another achievement and satisfaction filled placement experience!

Field Visits
Two field visits, the first after the 2nd semester and the second after the 5th semester are an essential part of the
curriculum. These Field visits of 15-20 days help students to understand the various aspects of the sustainable
development. The Field visits include visits to industries, rural and tribal areas, national parks, NGOs, renewable
energy projects, state forest departments, plantations, eco-tourism sites, warehouses etc across various states
of India. These visits not only give grassroot level knowledge to the students but also help them develop their
wisdom to take balanced decisions in their professional career. Apart from these Field visits, many other course
specific weekend field visits are undertaken by the students to gain practical insights to complement the theoretical
knowledge gained in class.
