Aviation safety is a term encompassing the theory, investigation and categorization of

flight failures and the prevention of such failures through regulation, education and training. It

can also be applied in the context of campaigns that inform the public as to the safety of air

travel. In over one hundred years of implementation aviation safety has improved considerably.

In modern times, major manufacturers still produced heavy passenger aircraft for the civilian

market. Both place huge emphasis on the use of aviation safety equipment now billion dollar

industry in its own right for each safety is a major selling point realizing that poor safety record

in the aviation industry is a threaten to corporate survival.

Some major safety devices now required in commercial aircraft involved, evacuation

slides a rapid passenger exit from aircraft in an emergency situation, advance avionics

computerized auto recovery and alert system, turbine engine durability and failure containment

improvement. Landing gear that can be lowered even after loss of power and hydraulics. Safety

investigators are individuals who are trained and authorized to conduct aviation accident and

incident investigation for the government organizations responsible for aviation safety. They

possess specialized expertise and training in specific field such as aircraft structures, air traffic
control, flight records and human factors. They may be employed by government, manufacturers

or unions and perform fact finding, analyses, and report writing as part of their duties.

Consideration of aircraft operations including inspection maintenance and repair procedure is

crucial in the development and application of new materials and structure. The successful

utilization of new materials and structural concepts relies on maintenance programs that cost-

effectively ensure passenger safety. Structural maintenance is a new aircraft program based on

assessing structural design information, fatigue and damage tolerance evaluation.

Effective application of new material on commercial aircraft requires the designer to

consider potential sources of damage or degration in operating environments and develop

maintenance and repair approach to address them. Damage may occur due to flight loads,

thermal and environmental cycles and aircraft operation and servicing activities. Commercial

aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) is an essential requirement to ensure that

aircraft are maintained in pre-determined conditions of airworthiness to safely transport

passengers and cargo. The commercial aircraft MRO market is influenced by external factors in

the wider air transport industry including global fleet size, aircraft utilization and increasing and

decreasing air traffic volumes for both passengers and cargo.
