Mannitol(Euro-med)

SD: 0.25 to 2g/kg as 15-20% IV solution

I: Cerebral Edema; Reduction of intracranial pressure.

Nsx.Consideration:

Check and Monitor BP first before giving.


Monitor and record urine output.
Electrolytes should be closely monitored and intracranial pressure.

Cefuroxime(Zegen)

SD: 750mg IV

I: Gynecologic Infection, UTI

Nsx.Consideration:

Assess for infection at beginning and during therapy


Obtain specimens for C/S before therapy
Monitor bowel function

KCl Syrup

SD: 5meqs/5mL 30mL NGT

I: Arrhythmias due to digoxin toxicity; Prevention of potassium depletion

Nsx.Consideration:

Assess for signs and symptoms of hypokalemia


Monitor pulse, BP and ECG periodically during IV therapy
Monitor serum potassium before and periodically during therapy.
Do not IV push KCl Syrup

Metoclopromide(Plasil)

SD: 10mg IV

I: Treatment for diabetic gastric stasis

Nsx.Consideration:

Monitor bowel function


Check for abdominal distention.
Assess for bowel sounds before and after administration.
Assess for EPS effects.

Ipratropium Bromide(Atrovent)
SD: 500mcg INH

I: For bronchospasm, airway obstruction

Nsx.Consideration:

Assess allergy to atropine


Assess respiratory status before and during administration

Atropine(HDON)

SD: 500mcg IV

I: Sinus bradycardia and heart block

Nsx.Consideration:

Assess vital signs and ECG tracing.


Monitor intake and output.
Assess patients routinely for abdominal distention.
