Subject: Letter of recommendation for Olivia Normandin
Date: Friday, February 10, 2017

Im pleased to write this letter of reference for Olivia Normandin. I first met Olivia as a student in my
General Psychology course. At the time, I was impressed by the depth of her questions and understanding of the
course material. However, it was her level of kindness and empathy that made her stand out among all my
students. Specifically, I saw her go out of her way to help other students learn class concepts (some of these
students, reported that they would not have passed the course without her assistance). So naturally, when
looking for a teaching assistant, Olivia was my first choice.
Olivia was invited to take part in our Teaching Assistant Intern program. This program goes beyond the
typical teaching assistant and requires office hours, teaching sections of the class and developing course
materials.
As expected, I found her to be a pleasure to work with, as well as a dynamic force in the classroom. Olivia
immediately built a strong rapport with our students. She is extremely organized and relentlessly conscientious!
I found her dedication, and reliability to be invaluable throughout the semester. Furthermore, I also found her
insights to be extremely helpful during our weekly planning sessions. After a while, I found myself consulting
with Olivia for my lesion planning and found that those collaborations were very well received by our students.
Moreover, her highly innovative evening review/tutoring sessions were highly rated by our students for their
usefulness. Her student evaluations reflected her dedication and creativity. Specifically, her students
consistently rated her as one of the best teaching assistants they have had and that her constant support was
what enabled them to succeed and enjoy the course. Quite frankly, if she possessed a graduate degree, I would
hire her as an adjunct instructor in our Psychology Program today!

If past behavior is an indicator of future performance, then I am confident that Olivia will succeed in any
endeavor she pursues. She has distinguished herself at Nichols College as a model student and her
competence, maturity, compassion, and ethics are exemplary. Fortunately, her combination of organizational
and intellectual abilities comes "packaged" in a friendly, sincere, and caring human being.
If you have any questions or wish to speak further about Olivia, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Thomas C. Davis Ph.D.
