THE FROG

The female frog lays many eggs in static water or

water that does not flow. These eggs are then fertilised

by the male frog. They will usually hatch six to twenty-

one days after being fertilised. After hatching from the

egg, the tadpole will feed on the remaining yolk. The

young tadpole only has gills, a mouth and tail. It will first

stick itself to floating weeds or grasses in the water.

Then, seven to ten days after the tadpole has hatched, it

will swim around and feed on algae. By twelve weeks,

the tadpole only has a small tail. It looks more like a

frog. The frog will be fully grown between twelve to

sixteen weeks.
