India is the second most populous country in
the world
More traffic jam
More travel time
Less average speed

THE CAR ORIENTED INFRASTRUCTURE

3
SO WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

?
4
Mass Rapid Transit System
(MRTS)
EFFICIENT USE OF ROAD SPACE

50 cars or 60 bicycles or 1 bus 5

INTRODUCTION
MRT is the system which deals with
transfer of people in mass from one place to
another and not concerned with individuals

Its main purpose is to reduce the problem

of congestion and time delay due to vast
population growth generally in the
developing countries.

6
FORMS OF MRTS:
Buses
Monorail
Heavy rail transit
Light rail transit
Sky bus

7
Buses
BUS RAPID TRANSIT is a systematically
coordinated service, fully integrated with other
modes in a community, that provides faster
speeds, improved reliability, and increased
convenience compared to conventional bus
operations.
Standard Urban Transit Buses
Double Decker Buses
Articulated Buses
8
ARTICULATED BUSES

DOUBLE DECKER BUS 9

MONORAIL
MONORAIL is a type of transit system generally
elevated with vehicles that straddle or are supported
from a single rail beam or tube.
Monorail vehicles are wider than the guide way that
supports them. They can be suspended or supported
type.
