unified way
To be able to create form using texture
To be able to create an expressive work of art

Tips:
1. Use multiple colors for each value
2. Use a unique mark and dont make the skin smooth
3. Dont outline the contours with paint because it will make it look like a
cartoon
4. Spread your marks out farther and farther to create a value fade
The Background
Step 1 Step 2
Paint a Value 1 or 2 Solid Add Texture and value 1 or 2 colors that relate
Basecoat emotionally to the photo
Only a little of this will show Start in one corner and work your way out so the
paint can blend a little
through
Tip: If you use one color at a time for the texture
It covers the white and helps layer, it will just look like the colors are sitting on
other layers stick top of each other
Try double dipping

Dont get
too thick
with the
paint or it
will chip
off
Texture
Try to come up with
your own unique
marks
Try to make the
colors and the
textures relate
emotionally to the
viewer and the image
Most of the basecoat
should be hidden
Go all of the way up
to the edges with the
texture
