Kids Food Basket--History

Mystery-based interactive bag!

Overview: Kids Food Basket provides over 7,500 meals per day to kids in
the Grand Rapids, Holland and Muskegon areas. Without their help,
thousands of kids would go hungry. They believe that kids learn better
when they have the right nutrition, and they work hard to provide that
nutrition for thousands of elementary aged students each day.

Problem: In order to serve their clientele, Kids Food Basket fills paper bags
with nutritional lunches andThe bags need
suppers. decorating . The kids
who receive these bags full of healthy food are elementary-aged (4-10 years old). How will you create an
engaging, informational, pleasant-looking bag to hold a meal?

Your ultimate goal is to present your information-rich topic in an interesting way to your audience. Your
audience will be 4-10 year-olds eating lunch or dinner. Your final article will be the information and
decoration on their lunch or supper bag!

Every paper(bag) must include:


1. Headline (a.k.a. title) & byline (a.k.a. authors name)
2. Paragraph 1: Interesting lead and Introduction to the topic
a. Catch our attention! Be CREATIVE in your word choice!
b. Introduce the topic!
3. Paragraphs 2-3: Body paragraphs that answer the reporter questions: Who? What?
When? Where? Why? How? How much?
a. ELABORATE! Use more than boring facts!
b. Write so youd want to read it come on!
c. 2-4 facts per paragraph (8 or more total) written for elementary kids,
using the tools of Elaboration! Use in-text citation to cite your facts!
(Dont plagiarize!)
4. Paragraph 4: Closing and wrap-up of topic - end with a BANG!
5. Works Cited section
6. Interesting and colorful bag design with at least two pictures and two other
graphics (infographic, fun facts, top 5, interactive, etc.), which fills the space of the
front and back of the bag well

Timeline: As with any project, there are deadlines! Here are
the big ones:
