Independently recite Surah Nas (Mankind) and Falaq (Day Break)

Summary: Allah is our Creator and only He can protect us from bad things. Allah keeps us safe at all times and
especially when we recite Surah Al-Falaq and An-Nas in the morning and before bedtime. Rasulullah (saw) recited
these twin surahs, blew into His hands, and passed His hands all over his body to keep Him safe.

Background: Prophet Muhammad (saw) felt strange one day. He couldnt remember if He did something or not. He
thought maybe someone put a spell on Him to make Him forget. A few days later He (saw) had a dream that gave
Him clues that someone really did cast a spell on Him. His wife asked what He would do to those who tried to hurt
Him. He (saw) said Allah cured me and I dont want to say bad things about others.

Names of Allah in Surah Nas: Allah is our Rabb - Lord, Malik - Master/King, and Ilah - God.

Independently recite Surah Quraish

A long time ago the Prophet (saw) was born into a famous tribe (group of families related to each other). The
Quraish tribe lived in Makkah and took care of the pilgrims visiting the Kaaba. The Quraish were the leaders of
Makkah. The Quraish would give water to the pilgrims. People liked them and respected them for being good hosts.
The Quraish loved the Kaaba. They thought it belonged to them but forgot Allah is the Lord of the Kaaba and Allah
is the one who gave them these blessings. Even after all the good things Allah gave them, they still worshipped idols
and tried to stop Rasulullah (saw) from teaching Islam.

This surah is a message for the Quraish tribe who ruled Makkah.
Allah gave the Quraish families many blessings like the Kaaba, peace, safety, food, good business, and most
importantly, the Prophet (saw).
This surah is special because it teaches us how Allah told the Quraish to be grateful for all the blessings He gave
them and to become Muslims. It teaches us we should also be grateful for His blessings and be good Muslims who
listen to Him.

Lesson 1: Our Prophet Muhammad (saw)

Muslims are followers of Islam

We believe in Allah

Allah is One

A Prophet is Allahs Messenger

Rasulullah (saw) is the Messenger of Allah

Muslims believe Muhammad (saw) is the Messenger of Allah and the last Prophet. Allah will not send any
Messengers to earth after Him.

We say the Salawat when we say, hear, or read Muhammad (saw)s name.

*Student should be able recite the Salawat in Arabic:

Salawat are a way to praise our Prophet, it means sending peace and blessings to Muhammad (saw).

Blessings are good things from Allah.

All Muslims feel a special love and closeness to Prophet Muhammad (saw). He is our role model, the best person to
look up to.

By sending the Salawat to Muhammad (saw), we show Him our love and respect. We ask Allah to bless Him

How do we become close to the Prophet? By remembering Him every day, learning about his life, and trying to be
like Him in everything we do.

* Rabi al-Awwal will not be covered

Lesson 2: Makkah, the Blessed City

Prophet Muhammad (saw) was born in the city of Makkah

Can you find Makkah on a map? What else is in Makkah?

What is the climate and environment like in Makkah? Hot desert where it doesnt rain often.

Allah blessed Muhammad (saw)s city.

What sorts of animals live in the desert?

Whats so great about camels?

What is one type of tree that grows fruit in the desert?

Lesson 3: The Family of Rasulullah (saw)

Like of all of us, Prophet Muhammad (saw) had a special family. The familys name was the Quraish

The Prophets dad was Abdullah and his mom was Aminah

Prophet Muhammad (saw)s parents died when he was very young. A kid without parents is called an orphan.

Without his parents, Rasulullah (saw)s grandfather (Abdul Muttalib) and uncles took good care of Him and loved
Him very much.

When Muhammad (saw) was growing up, his uncle Abu Talib used to take Him on business trips. Abu Talib used to
travel to different countries and traded goods with other merchants.

Muhammad (saw) had two nicknames: As-Sadiq (The Truthful) and al-Amin (The Trustworthy)

Lesson 4: Muhammad (saw) Marries Khadijah

He (saw) worked very hard and she (ra) learned what a noble person He was.

She (ra) asked Him to marry her and He (saw) agreed

Rasulullah (saw) chose to marry Khadijah (ra) because she was a kind and noble lady.

They loved each other very much, they were happy together and took care of each other

Together they had six children four girls and two boys.

They were great parents and loved their children very much.

The boys died when they were babies, this made Muhammad (saw) and Kadijah (ra) very sad.

The girls were very good daughters, they helped their mom and dad.

May Allah bless them all!

Lesson 15: The Quran and Sunnah

Allah shared many lessons with Prophet Muhammad (saw) that were put into the Quran.

All the words in the Quran are from Allah.

Allah has promised the words of the Quran will never change.

Prophet Muhammad (saw) taught us to read and follow the Quran

Prophet Muhammad (saw) knew the Quran by heart and followed its lessons all the time.

Prophet Muhammad (saw)s life is the perfect example for us to follow if we want to make Allah happy with us.

Hadith are the Prophet (saw)s sayings

Sunnah are the Prophets (saw)s actions

Prophet Muhammad (saw) left the Quran, the Sunnah, and the Hadith as gifts for Muslims

Muslims learn, follow, and share the Quran, Hadith, and Sunnah because they teach us how Allah (swt) and the
Prophet (saw) want us to behave.

Muslims respect the Quran

Muslims take good care of all these messages by using them every day.

Lesson 29: Helping Others

Hunger is what you feel when you havent eaten anything.

One Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (saw) is to feed poor and needy people.

One Hadith of the Prophet (saw): Food for one person is enough for two, food for two people is enough for three..

The Prophet (saw)s Sunnah was to help the sick, the needy, and the disabled.

Muslims should always share our money, books, toys, clothes, and helpful supplies with others

Muslims should be kind and generous to people in our community (place where we live work and play)

Allah (saw) and Rasulullah (saw) will be happy with us for helping others.
