CAS Reflection Form

Activity Name: Cross-Peer Mentoring

CAS element(s) involved:

C A S Group

Is this activity completed or ongoing?

Cross-peer mentoring is an ongoing task

Activity Reflection: Comment only on those learning outcomes listed below that are
relevant to this activity.
You may want to comment on:
- In this activity, I hoped to better develop my communication skills and articulation by
helping my juniors with their homework or assessments on a fortnightly basis.
- From this term, I was able to assist 4 juniors with their work and we were able to
make substantial progress. I was able to learn how to use more simplified language
and examples to help them understand the purpose and requirements of the task.
- Initially however, I did find it somewhat challenging and difficult to effectively
communicate
Sometimes it was frustrating to keep telling the juniors to do a question in a certain way,
but they would persistently refuse my method or continue to apply it incorrectly.
However, I managed to overcome this by showing them that their methods will not
comply with the question and answers and then continue to show them a more simplified
version of my method so that they will be able to use it more easily.

I will use the skills that Ive gained from Cross-peer mentoring to translate to the
following term.
What you wanted to achieve by doing this activity and what you did actually
achieve.
What you struggled with or found frustrating and how you managed that.
What you have learnt about working with others. What you learnt about yourself?
How this activity will inform your future CAS activities.

LO1 Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Students are able to see themselves as individuals with various
abilities and skills, of which some are more developed than others.

LO2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken,

developing new skills in the process
A new challenge may be an unfamiliar experience or an extension of
an existing one. The newly acquired or developed skills may be shown
through experiences that the student has not previously undertaken or
through increased expertise in an established area.

LO3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

CAS @ MLC SCHOOL

Students can articulate the stages from conceiving an idea to

executing a plan for a CAS experience or series of CAS experiences. This
may be accomplished in collaboration with other participants. Students may
show their knowledge and awareness by building on a previous
experience, or by launching a new idea or process.

LO4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Students demonstrate regular involvement and active engagement in
CAS.

LO5 Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working

collaboratively
Students are able to identify, demonstrate and critically discuss the
benefits and challenges of collaboration gained through CAS
experiences.

LO6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Students are able to identify and demonstrate their understanding of
global issues, make responsible decisions, and take appropriate action
in response to the issue, locally, nationally or internationally.

LO7 Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Students show awareness of the consequences of choices and actions
in planning and carrying out CAS experiences.
