-The story of Waheeda

Siddique-
By: Marvin Miranda, Marcellus Jordan,
Cameron Potter, and Jason Ortiz
Part 1: The Beginning
-In Orissa, India during the early 21st
century I, Waheeda Siddique, was born.
Both my parents died due to starvation, so
now I live with my grandmother,
Dakashakanya Siddique. We live in a
One-bedroom shelter and constantly, are
worried over what we will eat, everything
is dependent on me.
Part 2: The Struggle
The sequential search will start at
the element in the middle of the
collection.

-Since we cannot afford to go out we must

maintain a garden and produce our own food.
My diet consists of mainly vegetables, dried
rice, and cereal. In total I get 1,101 calories a
day, however experts say that the required
amount is 2,000. Due to this lack of food I
feel very weak. Overall, the hardest part for
me is obtaining money to buy seeds which
eventually become food.
Part 3: Strain of the body
-These food insecurities have affected
me all over. I am always experiencing
headaches and feeling fatigued. Because
I have not been able to eat sufficient
food I have lost 40 pounds and look
much skinnier. I have survived before
and I can now.
PART 4: SOCIAL INJUSTICE
Along with food insecurity, women in
my country struggle with inequality in
the law as well as the norm. In India,
women are expected to stay at home
and be housewives. Women in India
also arent educated. There should be
something done about this serious
issue.

Proposed Solution by the authors
-To solve the food insecurity in India we have proposed that we build civil
irrigation structures, so that it allows for farmers to not have to work hard and
increase the productivity of these farms.

-This solution is suitable because it enables farmers to produce enough food

for everyone.

-The advantage is that it isnt to expensive and a disadvantage is that it doesnt

work unless there is a farmer willing to take on everyones livelihood.
ANother Solutiion with GMOs
-In order to solve food insecurity, GMO can solve the problem because scientist
are able to modify organisms such as plants, animals or microorganism. For
instance, BT ( Bacillus Thuringiensis) corn , is a genetically crop that has a
poisonous protein to kill certain insects. This shows, farmers are able to
produce more corn, however, modifying crops are expensive wasting
$1,000,000 per year. Finally, using gmos will increase crops to feed 9 billion
people by 2050.
