PCI7FA – summer

WebQuest
Schedule for a seven-day trip to Ireland
The very first important thing to decide was the date. I chose to depart in July 5
and because of the time zone I’ll get to Ireland in July 6 and come back in July
12.

British Airways only flies from Mexico City; they do not have schedules from
Guadalajara. And you have to make a connection in London. So you probably
have to fly with a local airline to Mexico in a domestic flight.

I did some research and British Airway is a member of OneWorld alliance and
any Mexican airline has affiliated the program.
The total price is $1,757.68 (US Dollars), but using the Currency Calculator
Tool. The amount in Mexican Pesos would be $18,271.08 pesos and in Euros
would be $1,323.23.

The schedule for Guadalajara to Mexico is easy; almost all airlines have flights
each hour. And it only takes one hour to get to Mexico. I sincerely do not
recommend go to Mexico by road, because it takes at least 6 hours and traffic
in the city is heavy.

Airline: $ Total in MXP $ Total in EUR

Mexicana $ 1,604.00 $ 101.00
Aeromexico $ 2,040.00 $ 128.50
Aviacsa $ 2,163.00 $ 136.20
*** Average $ 1,335.66 $ 365.70
Note: these are round-trip prices. No schedules have been checked. And prices can be changed without notice.

The first day is for having a rest after a long flight. As we only had the option to
book the flight with British airways and it was the most convenient flight, you’ll
get really tired and it’s late for doing something. I’d suggest going the hostel and
taking a rest, and after that go out to the street just to kill a little bit of time. Try
to collect as much information as possible like maps, brochures. Then go out for
dinner, and after go to bed early because next days will be tough.

Day Activity
#2 Go around Dublin and try to go to the Top 5 Must –See
July 7 Places.
#3 Wicklow is an important city nearby. Take a tour from 9
July 8 am to 5 pm in a comfortable bus. A lot of Irish movies
have been filmed here. The tour costs $22 Students.

#4 Using http://www.buseireann.ie/ I’ll go from Dublin to
July 9 Wexford, which is another city. The bus round-ticket
costs $21.60 Euros. I’ll spend all the day at Wexford. Is
a really good place to go shopping more than 20 blocks
are surrounded by shop stores.
#5 These 2 days have to be spent in Cork. One day for
July 10 west area and other one for east area. Cork is one of
the larger and important cities in Ireland. It takes 4
#6 hours and a half to get there. Round ticket is no more
July 11 than $36 Euros (because they have special fares,
based on the day and hour).
Using http://www.aircoach.ie/
#7 The last day will be spent again in Dublin, after visiting
July 12 3 cities the body needs some rest.
I was looking up for places to visit in Ireland at excite.com and I came across a
website called tripadvisor.com. People who have gone to Ireland vote online for
the attractions they think people must see.

If you’re in Dublin these are the TOP 5 Must See!

1. Kilmainham Gaol Historical Museum
2. Christ Church Cathedral
3. Traditional Irish Music Pub Crawl
4. No. 29 Lower Fitzwilliam Street
5. Guinness Storehouse

In Wicklow, the most important attractions are the mountains, the fields, and
the valleys.

Wexford basically means shopping; there are many delightful shops and
boutiques in the town centre, even some charity shops, all in one street: coffees
shops, pubs, supermarkets, bookshops, clothes, vegetables and more. Maybe I
can visit the Wexford Wildfowl Reserve (nature) and churches.

In Cork, there’s the Antique English Market it’s a very interesting cultural
destination, you can go shopping, have great food and have tons of fun. A lot of
churches can be visited because of their historical importance. The Whale
Watch West Cork is a lot of fun if you’re into water animals. The Nano Nagle
Bridge is a really nice bridge to observe. Or maybe take a walk in Patrick Street.

There will be 3 meals per day. And they’ll be done between activities when I feel
starving.

About the Irish food is known for the quality and freshness of its ingredients.
Most cooking is done with herbs, salt, pepper, and food usually doesn’t have
sauce or gravy. The traditionally diet of Irish people have been potatoes and
dairy products. Cheese is basic in the meals. Seafood is also important for
them; they make soup with potatoes, salmon, scallops, lobster, mussels, and
oysters. They eat meat, but only sometimes. The most common meats are beef,
lamb and pork. Cabbage is typical.

I hadn’t done anything like this before. It was really good, easy and helpful for
developing more strategies on your skills while using Internet.

I thought it would be faster, but this activity really took a lot of time to be done.
At the same time is like a lesson to learn, because if you plan with anticipation
your journey you can save time, money, and you can have a vision about what
you want or what you don’t want.

The only thing I’d change about this task, is the fact that I felt that the sources
were probably a little bit restricted (like must create your schedule with British)
or probably leave a free choice for the place to search (why Ireland?).

Aside that I think it might be a good idea to say: “You have $30,000 pesos to go
anywhere you want”! The person who chose the best vacation wins, based on
what is the place, how many days can you be there, how expensive is the air-
ticket.

Finally I think that the task must contain something cultural or traditional. We
shouldn’t leave behind those kinds of matters.
