To Whom It May Concern;

It is unusual to find a student in high school that is willing; not only to do what is required, but to go beyond what is
required. Yusuf Khatri is such an individual. His personality exemplifies hard work, compassion, courtesy, and
professionalism. He has natural ability and enthusiasm for challenge, exhibiting consistent leadership through his
responsibilities. I have had the pleasure of facilitating his learning and growth at Sterling Heights High School for the
past three years because of his enrollment in my English 10 Honors class and through his acceptance into the Philip S.
Killoran Chapter for National Honor Society (NHS), of which I am advisor. Yusuf is an exemplar of leadership,
academic excellence, and community involvement.

During his career at Sterling Heights High School, he has been an exceptional student, enrolling in college preparatory
courses and over five different advanced placement classes in math, history, English, science, and interdisciplinary
studies content areas scoring a three or better on each test. Yusuf has been a member of our school districts Macomb
Mathematics Science Technology Center (MMSTC) since 2013 where he has gained proficient skills with Java
programming language, Solid Works, and Microstation PowerDraft CAD software. Yusufs overall career goal so far is
to obtain a degree in computer science.

He received an acceptance into the Philip S. Killoran-National Honors Society Chapter for his grade point average and
community service interest. He has been an active member, maintaining his 4.352 grade point average. He is in the top
ten for ranking out of 387 students in his class. He has also scored 1400 on his SAT. Yusuf has fulfilled over fifty
community service hours in the past year and half just for NHS and he will compile at least twenty more before the
year has ended. He frequently volunteers in our paper recycling and tutorial program, but also has volunteered for
various elementary and middle school events as well as helping with parent-teacher conference implementation. Each
time he participates I hear reports about his professionalism, diligence, and his compassion for others. He is well liked
and respected by his peers in our organization and in our school district community.

His diverse interests have motivated him toward membership and service in several community and nonprofit
organizations outside of school. One such organization is the Mosque Youth Group - MYAMDA (Muslim Youth of the
American Muslim Diversity Association) where he has participated in Road Clean-Ups, as a Mosque Open House
volunteer, and as a Mosque Sunday School Teacher. A second organization is the Muslim Youth of Greater Detroit
(MYGD) where he has volunteered with Kids Against Hunger for the food packaging program to send food to overseas
countries in need. A third organization is Helping Hands where he participates in food drives, boxing food, and
fundraising for charities. Yusuf has volunteered in local soup kitchens as well. He has even been an organizer for bi-
monthly Super Smash Brothers Tournaments over the past year.

Through his many experiences Yusuf has had to learn team work skills, problem solving skills, organization skills, time
management, as well as leadership skills to obtain success. He has consistently navigated every obstacle and challenge
with ease. He is committed to professionalism and excellence on many levels. Yusuf puts his whole-heart and all of his
abilities into everything he does. Anyone who works with him can expect his best. He is a motivated young man who
works well individually and as part of a team. I encourage your acceptance and/or appointment of this student as he
applies for your program. He will be one of our communitys great assets. Please support him as he continues to grow,
learn, and progress toward his goals and aspirations.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jennifer Huyghe
