preparing for tests or learning academic material

Study habits are the habitual practice one uses to help

them study. Good study habits can help students to maintain good
grades. In addition, asking lot of questions often considered as good
study habit. Good students commonly ask for certification, ask for
extra credit and ask for after school or lunch time assistance. A
students who has good study habits usuallyhas honed those habits is a
child with a love of learning . While some many consider people one
either born good student or not, usually this is not true.Just like any
other habits, a good study habit is also a product of practice,it can be

Developing good study habit is essential for a child

to make his future orderly, systematically and successfully.Inorder to
help the child, the teacher can prepare the various activities in
teaching learning process and can consider the needs of childre in the
class.

develop the concept of study habit

OBJECTIVES
To measure the study habits of pupils in home and classroom
To develop the concept of study habit

HYPOTHESES
By improving listening lectures, note taking and use specific methods
effectively, efficient reading, efficient writting and doing methadology

DATA COLLECTION AND METHADOLOGY

As part of B.ed teaching induction programme, i spend
one month in GMHSS Cheruvattoor, there I taught the students of
nineth standard. From there were i collected some details regarding
the study habits of students The students can nurture their study habits
both at home and school. To study or assess the study habit of
students two rating scale were prepared, related to study habit at
school and home.
The rating scale of study habit at home current twenty five
statements and that study habits at school carries fifteen statements.
Both positive and negative statements were there in the two rating
scales.
The statement were rated as Average (A), Often (O),
Sometimes (S), Rarely (R), and Never (N).These rating were scored
for positive and negative statements the rating was different .
The scoring table is given below:

A O S R W N
Positive
statements 4 3 2 1 0
Negative
statements 0 1 2 3 4

The rating scale were given to the students and marked their
answers , against each statements twenty students were taken as
samples. Later, three rating scale were assessed. The study habits at
home was asessed on the following way : Those who scored below
fifty showed very poor study habit:Those who scored in between fifty
and seventy showed an average study habit, and those who scored
above seventy showed a good study habit.
The study habit in school was assessed in the following
way: Those who scored below thirty showed a very poor study habit,
those who scored in between thirty and fourtyfive showed an average
studt habit, and those who scored above fourtyfive showed a good
study habit in school.

ANALYSIS

Study habit is the manner with which one use study for
the school.Analysis and interpreting the study habit of twenty students
or any number of students is not an easy process because individuals
are different and also their attitude, interests, and habits are also
different while analysis the answers or responds of the students to the
statements, it becomes more clear.
Study habits can be good or bad. As i said earlier, the
good study habits includes being organised keeping good notes,
reading text books, listening classes and working every day. But the
study shows the opposite of all things to a certain extent. That is the
pupils are more care on their bad study habits such as not doing home
works, skipping classes etc
This study reveals the idea that , the twenty students of the
nineth standard at GMHSS Cheruvattoor, have average level of study
habits at home and class more and it is not much less in the number of
those who are below the average level among twenty, only those
students gets rating above average level It is the rating of study habit
at home. The study habit of the classroom, there were none who get
above average rating.
In the case of study habit at home only 2 are above average.
This shows they follows the good study habit . He makes notes and
study it well as apreparation for exams., he has a clear idea about
time, he is capable of saving or controlling himself from external
distraction.Fourteen students show average level rating. From this we
can undestand that they are not followingexactly the same as the
student who have got above average. They are just do as they like.
They have no proper time management, they hve just studied
regularly and not prepare extra notes or keep notes clean and neat.
The four students show the lower level standard. This is an evidence
for the followers of bad study habit.
Only ten percentage of the have follow the good study
habit at home.Eighty percentagevery poor in the study habit at home
and the major ten percentage of them followan average level of study
habit at home.

Study habit is the behaviours used when prepairing for

test or learning academic material. Imade a study based on the study
habit of school students at home. When i analysed it almost all studnts
follow the average study habit. The good study habit make the student
systematic , and its effect last for ever in his or her life.So it is
important to follow a good study habit for every students.

EXPERIENCES AS A NATURAL SCIENCE

TEACHER

The four month school internship, gives lot of new

experiences. As a student teacher, school internship programme helped
me for improving my teaching skills. Each and every day i got new
experiences from the school internship programmes. I took participate
every avtivities that occure in the school. Some of them are debate,
quiz competitions, youth festivals, independence
programme,exhibition etc.
I took ICT enabled class for my students. It was a different
kind of experience as teacher.I got an awareness about positives and
negatives of technology enabled classes. Igave clear description of
doubts asked by students using pictures and videos.
One book, one pen,and one teacher can change the world. A
good teacher can inspire hope , ignite the imagination , and instillm a
love of learn. During the school internship programme we celebrated
teachers day at school. It was memorable experience for me.The
celebrations heid at the school helped me to know needed qualities of
the teacher from the feedback of students. The teachers also shared
thie experiences with the students. As a token of love, students gave
flowers and gifts to the teachers. It was a wonderful experience for
me.

As a former student of that school, i feel very proud to

become teacher in that school, the behaviour of my teachers can
motivate to become good teacher. But i face one of the problem is that
a student who facing lack of attention. He is not listened the ciass
properly, and make unnecessary comments in class. I solved these
problem by ICT enabled classes , including more activities. It was a
different experience for me as to improve the skills of teacher.
From each and every experience i learned new lessons. The
experiences helped me to improve my self as a teacher.
