Description: At St. Thomas the Apostle School, Gods Children in Extraordinary Variety are Inspired to Academic Achievement,
Instilled with Faith Values, and Involved in a Caring Community.
Enrollment: Over 250 students with an average class size of 18 students.

Faculty: Highly qualified teachers in Preschool through Grade 8 as well as individual Computer Teacher, Art Teacher, Music

Organization of the Year
Test Performance: St. Thomas the Apostle students take the ACT Aspire test in the spring of each year. Eighth grade students also
take the ACT Explore test in the fall. STA students generally score at or above the Chicago Archdiocesan average as well as the
national norm on standardized assessments.
Curriculum: Core curriculum as required by the State of Illinois and the Archdiocese of Chicago. Additional offerings include:
All-Day Preschool and Kindergarten, University of Chicagos Everyday Math, Foss Science, Catholic religion program, Computers,
Art, Music, Spanish, Physical Education, Accelerated Reader Program, Mathletics, Substance Abuse Awareness Programs, and Safe
Environment Training for children.
Spiritual Growth: Daily Religion Class, Daily Prayers, Holy Mass weekly, 4 Sunday Family Masses, Sacramental Preparation,
Living Rosary, Stations of the Cross, May Crowning, Altar Servers, Lectors and Service Opportunities.
Co-Educational Sports: Flag Football (4th-8th), Basketball (K-8th), Volleyball (5th-8th), and Track (3rd-8th).
Extracurricular Enrichment: After School programs: Gospel Choir, Yoga, Guitar and Piano, Science Club, Cooking Club,
Acrobatics, Improv Club, and Chess Club are just a few that have been offered recently. Programs may vary depending on the level of
student interest.
