Pastors Remarks
Dear Church Family,
In our world today we are flooded with bad news everywhere. As
followers of Christ, we are called to live lives that are characterized
by hope. What is hope?
Biblical hope is not a feeling, not just wishful thinking, or being
optimistic. It is an attitude of expectation based on Gods promises to
us, as found in His word. When you look at the lives of the saints of
yesteryear, they did not live in times that were easier than ours. They
struggled with wayward children, unjust political systems, failing
health, broken relationships, and even struggling churches. They
held on to the promises of God.
On Sunday evenings we have been going through the book of
Hebrews. The author is addressing Jewish Christians who are facing
persecution and pressures. They were discouraged, weary and
wondered if they would survive the storms of life. From my message
last week, in Hebrews 6:13-20, the author told them how God had
given Abraham a promise and confirmed it with an oath, and
because God cannot lie, and they could lay hold of the hope, and in Inside this issue:
this hope we have an anchor for the soul. Our hope depends on Pastors Remarks 1
being anchored to Jesus Christ. He is our hope and our anchor as
the storms of life come our way. We can trust Him in the 2

A Southern Baptist church begins in prayer. Congregations and North American Mission Board (NAMB)
leadership pray over areas of great spiritual need in the United States and Canada. Because statistics show
new congregations are often more effective at reaching lost people for Jesus than established
congregations, and because most urban areas do not have enough gospel-centered churches per capita,
NAMB works strategically to plant new churches.
North American missionaries are prayerfully selected for each church plant. After selection, NAMB
walks the missionaries and their families through the process of relocating to a new city. Once in the city,
the missionaries get to work planting a new church; meeting new friends, hosting events, finding a
meeting place, securing equipment, following up with contacts, cooking food, engaging in genuine
relationship-building and hosting people in their home.
While NAMB never leaves church planters totally on their owna mentor is always a phone call away
its hard not to feel alone when starting a church in a new city. Balancing family life with ministry and
battling spiritual darkness are real issues missionaries face. As they adjust, equip, serve, love, teach and
pray, church planting missionaries need our prayers, love and support.
These North American missionaries are supported by the gifts given to the Annie Armstrong Easter
Offering (AAEO). One hundred percent of AAEO goes toward funding missionaries in North America.
NAMB uses your investment to provide for North American missionaries and their families, helping them
feel secure, appreciated and supported as they do the kingdoms work. Its essential we gather around
these faithful workers and pool our resources together so they can thrive.
Thats what AAEO is all about: believers banding together and giving to help North American
missionaries share the gospel and love the lost in cities all over the United States and Canada.

March is here and O2 Caf has drawn to a close. We have had such a great success and fun time this year that
many people are already asking when we will continue next year! I cannot say thank you enough to all the people
who have participated, donated, and served in this years caf, but I would be remiss not to say a very special thank
you to Treva Morrison, Tina Scali and Lois Anderson for the hard work they gave to make this event possible.
Without these ladies, there would be no Caf!! As I write this, we do not have a total that we have raised through
the Caf, but I will be announcing our profits on Sunday, March 5th to the church congregation.
Also, if you have yet to donate to the youth summer camp fund, you still have time! Our second fundraiser, 100
Envelopes, will be on display in the church foyer all the way until March 26th. The great thing about this
fundraiser is that everyone can participate regardless of their budget! All you have to do is to simply find an
envelope with the dollar amount you wish to give, (ex. #20=$20.00 pledge, #37=$37.00 pledge and so on), place
your gift in the envelope, and deposit it into the O2 Mailbox. Lets see if we can fill up the whole board! Dont
wait too long though - the smaller number envelopes may be taken!
We have a few events coming up in March that we at the student ministry are particularly excited about. On March
25th (Good Friday) we will be hosting a youth Spring Lock-In at the Smith Building fr om 7PM-7AM. While we
will be having a lot of fun with the teenagers, we will also use this as an opportunity to share the gospel and the
importance of Good Friday with many students who may not normally attend Wednesday or Sunday services. The
cost will be $10.00 per student. Please be in prayer for our students and leaders for this event! Also, if you would
like to help (its not as bad as it sounds, promise!), or if you know a student who would like to attend, please
contact me at the church office for more info.
In closing, as Easter approaches, let these words of the apostle Paul be a reminder to us:
For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also comes through a man. For as in
Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:20-21
Keep fishing,
Brian
