INTRODUCTION
This guide describes how to install Nokia PC Suite, connect your phone to the PC
and use the applications of Nokia PC Suite applications.
1.1 Nokia PC Suite applications
With Nokia PC Suite, you can use the data on your Nokia phone edit and save a Mi
crosoft Windows based PC system, and synchronize.€Nokia PC Suite includes the fo
llowing applications: With Nokia PC Suite you can:
Personal data from the phone back up to a PC. Personal data from your PC to any
supported phone restore. Personal data between your phone and PC. Use your phone
as a modem to connect your PC to the Internet. Games and other programs from th
e PC to install on the phone. Files between the phone and the PC. Your phone fil
es and folders on the PC. Create contacts on your PC, view, delete or edit.

1.2 Requirements

INSTALLING NOKIA PC SUITE
You can install Nokia PC Suite from a CD-ROM or via the Nokia PC Suite website (
www.nokia.com / pcsuite to install). You must have administrative rights on the
PC to install the PC software. To establish a connection between phone and PC ca
n be established, must be installed on the PC driver. Most drivers are installed
automatically when you install Nokia PC Suite or when you connect your phone us
ing the connection wizard. Detailed information can be found in this guide in se
ction 3, Installing drivers.
Tip: If Nokia PC Suite installed and you are connected to the Internet, are from
Nokia PC Suite, a message when a new version of Nokia PC Suite can be downloade

2.1 Before Installation
When installed on a PC an older version of Nokia PC Suite (5.x or 6.x), this ver
sion is automatically overwritten during installation. If you need to uninstall
the previous version manually for some reason, you are prompted by the installat
ion program to do so. If you want to use a Bluetooth connection, you must instal
l on your PC before you install Nokia PC Suite software for the Bluetooth wirele
ss technology. For more information on Bluetooth software that can be used in co
njunction with Nokia PC Suite, you will find in this manual in section 1.2, requ
irements. If you are upgrading from Nokia PC Suite 6.41 or earlier, perform on N
okia PC Suite 6.82, you should use the phone before the upgrade of the existing
Nokia PC Suite to synchronize the program in order to avoid duplicate calendar a
ppointments. Synchronize following the installation of Nokia PC Suite 6.82 again
by.
2.2 Installing Nokia PC Suite from a CD-ROM
You can install Nokia PC Suite from a CD-ROM, if it is included with the phone.
1st Set to install Nokia PC Suite 6.7 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of the PC and
click the option to install. 2nd Select the language and click OK. The installa
tion program starts. 3rd Follow the instructions on the screen and note the foll
owing: • Read the license agreement and accept these terms before proceeding. •

will be told it will be uninstalled.

You may be prompted during the installation, restart the computer. 4th After the
installation of the Connection Wizard will automatically open and you can selec

must perform the installation through the user interface of the phone.

2.3 Installing Nokia PC Suite from the Web
1st Open a web browser and go to www.nokia.com / pcsuite> Download (Download). T
he Download Wizard will open. 2nd Indicate whether you need help to identify the
appropriate version of PC Suite for your phone model, or whether you want to do
wnload the latest version of PC Suite. 3rd If you have selected the help, then s
pecify which phone model you use, and then click Continue (Continue). Should be
available in two versions for your phone, you will be asked to select your PC op
erating system. 4th Select the desired language from the drop-down list and clic
k Download. 5th Choose Run (Run) or Open (Open), so that the installation will s
tart. OR Click Save (Save), save the file on the PC. Go to the downloaded file N
okia_PC_Suite_682_rel_xx_xx_web.msi and click on it to ensure that the installat
ion will start. 6th Follow the installation instructions on the screen and note
the following: • Read the license agreement and accept these terms before procee
ding. • Should be available on the computer has an older version of Nokia PC Sui
te, you will be told it will be uninstalled. • You may be prompted during the in
stallation, restart the computer. 7th After the installation of the Connection W

2.4 Uninstalling Nokia PC Suite
1st Click Uninstall Start> Programs> Nokia PC Suite> Nokia PC Suite. 2nd Follow
the instructions on the screen, have been removed until the program files. OR 1
Click Start> Settings> Control Panel. (Use in Windows XP Classic View of Control
Panel.) 2 Double-click Add / Remove Programs. 3rd Select from the list of curre
ntly installed programs, Nokia PC Suite. 4th Click the Change / Remove. If you c
hoose change, you need the next window, click Remove. 5th Follow the instruction
s on the screen, have been removed until the program files.
Note: When you uninstall Nokia PC Suite to uninstall the drivers that were insta
lled with Nokia PC Suite. If Nokia Connectivity Cable Drivers after installation
of Nokia PC Suite have updated separately, the drivers are not uninstalled.
2.5 Changing the language used in Nokia PC Suite
If Nokia PC Suite installed and you want to change the Nokia PC Suite applicatio
ns use language, proceed as follows: • To install the same version of Nokia PC S
uite in another language: uninstall Nokia PC Suite and then determine that the p
rogram is to be installed in the new language from the CD-ROM or from the Nokia
PC Suite Web pages. To install a newer version of Nokia PC Suite in another lang
uage: Install Nokia PC Suite in the desired language. The old version of Nokia P
C Suite and the language are automatically replaced during the installation.
Note: You should preferably use the phone, the operating system and Nokia PC Sui
te applications the same language. This creates the prerequisite for the phone w
ith all Nokia PC Suite applications function properly.

INSTALLING DRIVERS
To connect your phone and PC to use Nokia PC Suite applications must be installe
d on the PC connectivity drivers. Most drivers are installed automatically when
Nokia PC Suite is installed and you connect using the Connection wizard to conne
ct your phone to your computer. If you want to use the phone as a modem to conne
ct to network services such as the Internet, when no network available, must be
installed on the PC modem driver. The following table shows which drivers are re
quired depending on the type of connection used are: Connection type Connectivit

Nokia infrared modem is installed automatically when you connect through an infr
ared connection from phone to PC. When using Windows XP SP1, you must update the
Nokia IrDA drivers after installing Nokia PC Suite. On the PC, a standard modem
is installed when you install a Bluetooth package on the PC or if you pair your
phone to the PC. If you have Windows XP with SP2, the Bluetooth modem driver is
already installed.

1.3 Updating infrared modem driver
Nokia infrared modem is installed automatically on your PC when you connect thro

nd use the phone as a modem, you must update the infrared modem driver. To updat

to Control Panel> Phone and Modem Options. 3rd Select Phone and Modem Options se
lect the Modems tab. 4th Select the Modems tab, select Standard Modem over IR li
nk and then click Properties. 5th Use the dialog box for the features of the Sta
ndard Modem over IR link the Driver tab, and select Update Driver. 6th The Hardw
are Update Wizard opens. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanc
ed). Click Next. 7th Set in the next dialog choose your search and installation
options: search Select Do not you will choose the driver to install. Click Next.
8th Uncheck the box Show compatible hardware. 9th To select the list of manufac
turers Nokia, and the list of models from the modem that you add. Click Next. 10
th If you want to continue with the update, click the warning: Update the driver
, click Yes. Your modem will now appear in the list of installed modems. 11th Cl
ick OK to close the Phone and Modem Options.
3.2 Installing a Bluetooth modem
If you want to use the phone as a modem via a Bluetooth connection must be insta
lled on the PC a Bluetooth modem. For this you can use a standard modem or a Nok
ia modem. When a Bluetooth package is installed on the PC or if you use Windows
XP with Service Pack 2 is already installed on your PC a Bluetooth standard mode
m. Under Start> Control Panel> Phone and Modem Options, you can check whether a
standard modem is installed. If a standard modem is available, it appears in the
modem list. If a Bluetooth modem is displayed in the list, install a Nokia PC S
uite supported Bluetooth package or configure the Bluetooth feature of Windows X
P SP2. In some PC configurations may have been a Nokia Bluetooth modem installed
on your Nokia device. Instead of the standard Bluetooth modem, you can use a No
kia Bluetooth modem.

CONNECT BY PHONE AND PC
You need to connect the phone to a PC for the following purposes: data transfer
between Nokia PC Suite applications and the phone. This is, for example, to sync
hronize calendar appointments or transfer of image data of the case. Using the p
hone as a modem to connect your PC to network services such as the Internet.

4.1 Selecting a connection type
You can connect the phone to a PC via a USB cable or a serial cable, Infrared (I
rDA) or Bluetooth wireless technology. After installing Nokia PC Suite connectio
n wizard opens that takes you through configuring the connection type to use. Wh
at type of connection you can choose depends on what connection types your phone

nual, you can check which connection types your phone supports. Connection
USB cable (DKU-2, DKE-2, CA-53, CA70)
Details
A USB cable is a fast and reliable method to transfer data between your phone an
d PC. You can have several USB cable connections and even connections using a se
rial cable and a USB cable to build a time.€with your phone should not be includ
ed cable, you can buy one from your Nokia dealer.
Serial cable (CA-42)
A serial cable is a reliable connection method between a phone and a PC. You can
have only one serial cable connection to be active. with your phone should not
be included cable, you can buy one from your Nokia dealer.
Infrared
Infrared connects your phone within a short range wirelessly to your PC. The rec
ommended distance between the phone and the PC is a maximum of one meter. About
Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone within a short range connected wireles
sly to your PC. The distance between the phone and the PC may not exceed 10 mete
rs.
Bluetooth
In the connection wizard, you can change the connection types you want to use at
a later date. The wizard can be called in to the Connect button at the bottom o
f the main window of Nokia PC Suite.

Note: Some phone models have an optional security setting that the system is blo
cked if it is a specific time has been in standby mode. Before you can establish
a connection between the phone and Nokia PC Suite to produce, you need to unloc
k the phone.
4.2 Connecting your phone via cable
1st Get Connected, select Cable connection as the connection. 2nd Close the requ

4.3 Connect your phone via infrared
1st Activate the IR port of your phone. For instructions, see the user manual of
the phone. 2nd Set the phone and the PC so that the infrared ports of the two d
evices together. 3rd The connection is automatically established.
4.4 Connecting your phone via Bluetooth
1st Make your phone visible to other Bluetooth devices and activate the Bluetoot
h connection on the phone. For instructions, see the user manual of your phone.
2nd The first time you activate Bluetooth, you will be prompted to enter a name
for the phone. This name is used whenever you pair your phone with a PC. 3rd Mak
e sure that the Bluetooth package is enabled on the PC. 4th If you use a Bluetoo
th adapter, make sure it is connected to the PC. 5th On the main window of Nokia
PC Suite to connect and follow the instructions in the wizard to pair your phon
e to the PC.

To check which Bluetooth packages are installed on the PC, click the main window
of Nokia PC Suite to Help> About Nokia PC Suite ... > System information .... I
f one is not available on the PC Bluetooth package supported by Nokia PC Suite,
a notice is included in the system information.
4.4.1 Pairing devices for Bluetooth connection
To use Bluetooth as the connection, you need to pair your phone to the PC. Pairi
ng two Bluetooth devices can be encoded so that they can exchange data to commun
icate. to pair the devices must only once, before you use the connection for the
first time. Follow the instructions in Get Connected and note the following: •
If you use the password that was generated by Get Connected, enter the password
after prompt on the phone. Alternatively, you can create your own password (1-16
characters,€numeric) and then the password prompt, first on the PC and then ent
er on the phone. The password is used only once, so you do not have to memorize
it. You need to authorize the connection between your Nokia phone and the PC. Ch
oose Yes when you see the phone display a connection request. You can set your P
C as authorized, require so that individual connections between your phone and y
our PC do not separate authorization. On your phone to the Paired devices view,
select the PC and set the PC to be authorized or trustworthy, whichever term is
used in the phone.
Note: When using Microsoft Windows XP SP2 Bluetooth you can connect the phone us
ing the connection wizard from Nokia PC Suite connect to the PC. The coupling is
also valid for the included Nokia PC Suite One Touch Access. When using other B
luetooth packages you must use the power of One Touch Access Wizard, the couplin
g of the package.


4.5 Connection Status
The status of the connection between phone and PC is shown at the bottom of the
main window of Nokia PC Suite:

USING NOKIA PC SUITE
In the following section, the first steps to use Nokia PC Suite applications are
described. For detailed instructions, see the help of Nokia PC Suite (Help> Hel
p topics) and in the tutorial (Web> PC Suite tutorial).
Note: Nokia Multimedia Player, Image Store and Nokia Music Manager are not part
of Nokia PC Suite Starter Edition. Note: Not all phone models, it is possible to
send such as multimedia messages. Check www.nokia.com / pcsuite / compatibility

5.1 Opening of Nokia PC Suite applications
To open Nokia PC Suite: a. Click the Windows taskbar, click the icon for Nokia P
C Suite. b. Double-click on the desktop of the computer on the icon for Nokia PC
Suite. c. Click the Windows Start menu, select Programs> Nokia PC Suite. On the
main window on one of the icons to the appropriate Nokia PC Suite application t
o open. An application can also be opened by clicking the Windows taskbar, right
-click the icon for Nokia PC Suite and selecting the application you choose.

Nokia PC Suite is started when the computer boots ever. If Nokia PC Suite when t

software (such as new PC Suite versions). The monthly newsletter is available i
n several languages and can be sent to your e-mail address or mobile phone to be
delivered. To register for the Nokia Connections Newsletter you need an Interne
t connection. After installing Nokia PC Suite you can access the registration pa
ges by clicking below on the main screen of Nokia PC Suite on the link Login to
PC Suite. The registry, you can make at a later date in the Web> application.
5.2 Backing Telefoninhaltenauf of a PC

ansferred or forwarded.€Note: Some content can only be restored on the phone mod
el, from which they were originally backed up depending on what type of data sup
ports the target phone.

one from which you want to back up data. 3rd Click Settings to specify whether t
he contents of the phone memory, the contents of the memory card, or both, shoul

he data can take several minutes, depending on your connection type and quantity
of data on the phone.

5.3 Synchronizing data between your phone and PC
With Nokia PC Sync you can synchronize contacts, calendar, notes, to-do entries,
emails and bookmarks between a Nokia mobile phone and a PC personal information
manager (PIM). Synchronization means that the data correspond to the data in yo
ur phone to the PC. Note that, for example, the synchronization of e-mails is no
t supported by all phone models. You can synchronize a compatible Nokia phone wi
th the following PC PIM applications: • • • • Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2002 and 2
003, Microsoft Outlook Express / Windows Address Book Lotus Notes 5.x, 6.x and 7
.0, Lotus Organizer 5.x and 6 . x
To create the first synchronization task first Connect your phone to the PC. 2nd
On the main window of Nokia PC Suite to synchronize PC Sync. To Nokia
3rd When you first open the Nokia PC Sync automatically setting wizard opens. Yo
u may choose not to use the wizard and synchronize with the default settings, or
you can follow the instructions in the wizard until the process is complete. Th
e use of the wizard is recommended because it facilitates the selection of the c
orrect personal settings for synchronization. Follow the instructions on the scr
een, for example, set the following: • PIM application with which the telephone
is to be synchronized • information to be synchronized • Settings for items you
have selected for synchronization 4th Click Finish in the wizard on the page, cl
ick Advanced, if you want to make settings for automatic synchronization and con
flict resolution. For more information about settings, refer to the help of Noki
a PC Suite.

To create a new synchronization task 1 Connect your phone to the PC. 2nd On the
main window of Nokia PC Suite to synchronize PC Sync. 3rd Click on Settings. 4th
Click Set New Settings. 5th On the pages of the Settings Wizard, you can also d
etermine which PC PIM application is to be used for synchronization, synchronize
the data you want and how to apply synchronization range. 6th On the last page
of the wizard, click Advanced if you want to make settings for automatic synchro
nization and conflict resolution. Which tab in the Settings window is active, de
pends on what needs to be synchronized. Fill in the active tabs. 7th Click OK to
finish creating a new synchronization task. For more information about the sett
ings, see the help of Nokia PC Suite. The icon for Nokia PC Sync is displayed in
the Windows taskbar when Nokia PC Sync is active: • indicates that the phone ha
s an active connection. You can click on the icon to open Nokia PC Sync, or clic
k the right mouse button on the icon to use the Nokia PC Sync menu commands. ind
icates that the phone is not connected.
Note: By default, not Nokia PC Sync enabled automatically when you start the PC.
To achieve€that is activated when Nokia PC Sync start automatically: 1 Click Sy
nchronize in the main window of Nokia PC Suite. 2nd Click the right mouse button
in the Windows taskbar, click the icon for Nokia PC Sync. 3rd Select Enable the
option at the start.

5.4 Developer Internet using your phone
With the included Nokia PC Suite One Touch Access, you can use the phone as a mo
dem to establish a network connection to the Internet. Choose from over cable, i
nfrared, or Bluetooth wireless connections. To use your phone as a modem, the fo
llowing conditions must be met: • • You need a telephone support and a network p
rovider, the packet data. be installed on the PC must have an appropriate softwa
re for data transmission.

You must be logged in to the appropriate network services from your home service
provider or Internet service provider. On your PC The appropriate modem drivers
installed. See this document in Section 3, Installing drivers.
Note: One Touch Access detects the connected phone and automatically uses it as
a modem. When the phone is connected via Bluetooth to the PC, One Touch Access d
etects the phone just automatically if no other connected modem is available and
you had for the last time you used One Touch Access a Bluetooth modem. Note: If
your phone does not support packet data you can access the Internet by creating
a dial-up connection. Instructions on how to use your phone as a modem, you wil
l find in the help of Nokia PC Suite.
To set an Internet connection first Connect your phone to the PC. 2nd If you use
the connection between Nokia PC Suite and your phone on serial CA-42 cable or i
nfrared connection to the relevant types are disabled so that they can be used f
or the modem. One Touch Access automatically deselects the connection types when
creating a connection and activated it again when the modem connection was lost
. 3rd On the main window of Nokia PC Suite Connect to the Internet to open One T
ouch Access. After 10 seconds, automatically connect to the Internet. OR Start O
ne Touch Access and click Settings to select the required modem and network oper
ator from a list of operators. Then click Connect to the Internet. 4th When fini
shed, click Disconnect to close the Internet connection.
5.5 Installing applications to your phone from a PC
With Nokia Application Installer you can install Symbian and Java ™ applications
such as calendars or games from a PC to the phone. With Nokia Application Insta
ller can be. SIS install. Sisx or. JAD and. JAR files. You can, for example, app
lications from Nokia web pages or other service providers to download to the PC.
You can also install applications that you have created. To install an applicat
ion on the phone first Download the. SIS. Sisx or. Jar and. Jad files for the ap
plication you are installing. The. Jar and. Jad files must both be saved in the
same folder on the PC. 2nd Connect your phone to the PC.

3rd Double-click in Windows Explorer on a. JAR,. SIS or. Sisx file that you want
to install on the phone. Nokia Application Installer installs the application o
n the phone. Note that the installation be completed on the phone have to do if
you have a phone with a Symbian operating system. If you want to select, for exa
mple, whether the application in the phone memory or memory card to install, use
Nokia Application Installer to install the application. To open Nokia Applicati
on Installer, click the main window of Nokia PC Suite to install applications No

6.5 Managing phone contents on a PC
When you connect the phone using Nokia PC Suite with a PC, PC Suite creates a ph
one folder€can be displayed in Windows Explorer, under Nokia Phone Browser. In N
okia Phone Browser displays phone folders and subfolders for each phone that is
connected to the PC. If a memory card is inserted into the phone, it is displaye
d as a phone. With Nokia Phone Browser you can view files and folders to it betw
een the phone and Windows Explorer to transfer to the PC, as you would from the
normal handling of files and folders on the PC are used.

To copy files and folders between your phone and PC 1 Connect your phone to the

ng files from one PC to the phone can take, depending on file size and connectio
n type used for some time. Disconnect the phone before, when the files were copi
ed. Via a USB cable (DKU-2, DKE-2, CA-53 or CA-70) can be large files such as mu
sic files on the fastest transfer between the phone and a PC.
7.5 Adding contacts to your phone from a PC
With Nokia Contacts Editor you can open and edit phone contacts on your PC, save
and print as well as update new and changed contacts to your phone. To create a
new contact on the phone first Connect your phone to the PC. . Nokia Phone 2nd
On the main window of Nokia PC Suite contacts browser opens and displays the pho
ne's Contacts folder. 3rd Select Nokia Phone Browser Contacts folder and click C
ontact> New Contact. 4th Enter the details for the contact. 5th Click Save. 6th
Go to the question Would you like to update your contacts to the phone now? as f
ollows: • Click Yes to add the contact on the phone and the PC. • Click No to no
t add the contact to the contacts on the phone, but only the Contacts folder on
the PC.
5.8 Sending text messages from a PC
With Nokia Text Message Editor you can send and receive text messages on your PC
, create folders for storing text messages and transmit text messages from your
phone to your PC.

To send a text message first Connect your phone to the PC. . Nokia Phone 2nd On
the main window of Nokia PC Suite to communications browser is open, the phone f
older for messages will be displayed and the messages are updated. 3rd Click in
Nokia Phone Browser> to release New text message. 4th Enter the phone number in
the To ... field, or click To ... to select recipients for the message. The reci
pients are shown from the Nokia Phone Browser Contacts folder. 5th Write the mes
sage and click File> Send.
05.09 Viewing multimedia files on a PC
With Nokia Multimedia Player you can play multimedia files from your PC or play
directly from the phone when it is connected to the PC. You can create playlists
, for example, taken with the camera pictures and video clips, and watch them on
e after another. You can play video and audio files also save in a format that a
llows you to use these files on a mobile phone or attach them to an MMS message.
To use playlists to view your favorite files 1 On the main window of Nokia PC S
uite Multimedia Show at Nokia Multimedia Player to open. ,
2nd Click View> Playlist to open the playlist view. The view opens with an empty
list. 3rd Click to add files to playlist to add files to the list, or drag file
s from Windows Explorer into the playlist. 4th Click Save Playlist to file or Sa
ve File> Save Playlist. Set the name for the playlist, and click Save. The file
is saved with a. NPL. 5th Click View> Options to set viewing options. For exampl
e, you can set€that playback should be started automatically and set the delay b

With Image Store you can store on your PC photos and video clips taken with your
phone's camera. 1st Connect your phone to the PC. 2nd On the main window of Nok

tically called when your phone is connected to the computer and you open Image S
tore. Before you can store images, you must first define the types of files to b
e stored (images or videos), the target folder for storage, and the activities o
f Image Store for the storage of files. 4th Click Save Now. The files are saved
in the folder you specify. If you want to change the settings, click the Image S
tore main window, click Settings. Here you can select, for example, whether new
pictures and videos every time you connect the phone to the PC, automatically st
ored on the PC or which application to display images and video clips. For more

5:11 Transferring music from CD to your phone
With Nokia Music Manager you can rip audio CDs with track and album information,
create and organize digital music files and playlists on a phone or a PC, trans
fer music files and playlists between a phone and the PC and play music from a C
D or a PC. With Nokia Music Manager, you can play music files in formats includi
ng AAC, MP3, MP4 and M4A.
Note: With a USB cable (DKU-2, DKE-2, CA-53 may or CA-70) to large files such as
music files between your phone and PC faster than with other connection types.
Note: If the phone from Nokia Music Manager is supported, you pointed out in the
title bar. Note: Due to copyright protections, some songs may not be ripped and
transferred.
To transfer music from a CD to the phone first Connect your phone to the PC. 2nd
Insert an audio CD into the CD or DVD drive of your PC. 3rd On the main window
of Nokia PC Suite to transfer music to open Music Manager. To Nokia

4th Open the CD view to appear on the CD title. 5th If you want to rename a file
, click the right mouse button and select Edit. 6th Select the tracks to be tran
smitted to the target phone. 7th Click File> Copy to phone. The files are in the
AAC or M4A format converted and transferred to the phone.
Tip: If the memory card in the phone, music will be automatically stored on the
card. You can change the destination folder on your phone under Options> Setting
s on the Phone tab.
You also have the ability to search on the PC for music tracks to be transferred
to the phone. Click on Search for music files and copy the selected tracks to y
our phone. When the phone to play music tracks in MP4 or M4A format supported, y
ou can use eAAC + encoding process in order to rip music from a CD. Click on Opt
ions> Settings and select the tab the format conversion as a conversion from M4A
format. With this type of conversion the compression ratio is higher than in th
e AAC encoding. Therefore, you can store more music in the phone memory or the m
