in all the necessary information so that we could deploy a system that meets the
needs of enterprise-Araújo & Farias Ltda Epp, because there was a system in pla

rprise by finds there was always a miss in terms of development in the area of i
nformatics that worked there and the same be lagging behind the technology avail
able today.

14
4. THEORETICAL ANALYSIS OF FIELD STAGE 4.1. Computer Networks
The discipline of computer networks was the most used in my internship, it was t
hrough her that I could put all my knowledge into practice and overcoming barrie
rs mostly have never done something like this alone. By implementing the network
I used the star topology where in which it was composed six computers Desktop t
ype. Using client / server, clients do requests as much files as Internet access
depending on a host server to respond to these requests. (LINUXIT) www.linuxit.
com.br, NETS, 22/09/2006 The network topology used for this assembly was the typ
e star, also using an eight-port switch for interconnecting the same. Basically,
a network is a system that allows communication between different points, ie a
system that allows the exchange of information. The basic components of a networ
k (or network of information) is a sender (source of information), the medium th
rough which information travels (the channel), a receiver (the destination infor
mation) and finally the message that is nothing more than the information itself
. A common example would be a person talking on the phone with someone else: The
transmitter would be who is talking, the channel would be the telephone line, t
he receiver who is listening and the message would be the very message being com
municated. Over the years the tools for data communication have evolved graduall
y, in order to make information exchange faster, easier and more efficient. A co
mputer network is based on the principles of an information network, implementin
g hardware and software techniques to make it effectively more dynamic to meet t
he needs of the modern world imposes. Computer networks include all equipment ne
cessary to interconnect electronic devices such as PCs and printers. These devic
es communicate with each other are called nodes, workstations, point or just net
work devices. Two computers, or we would be the minimum number of devices needed
to form a network of computers.
15
The maximum number is not predetermined, theoretically all the world's computers
could be linked.
16
4.2. Servers
The discipline of servers was also widely used in my internship, it was only one
using the Fedora Linux Operating System. Through this system was created a Samb
a file server to access and backup files created during the day by office staff
with their proper folders and permissions, a proxy server to access external net
work, ie, the Internet has also been done through even a print server to facilit
ate the centralization of printing. Also through this server were created safety
rules through Iptables to block certain applications such as MSN and Orkut by e
mployees. In computing, a server is a computer system that provides services to
a network of computers. These services can be of different nature, such as files
and email. The computers that access the services of a server are called client
s. Networks using servers are kind of clienteservidor,€used in networks of mediu
m and large (with many machines) and in networks where the security issue plays
a large role importância.Redes computers. (Handout) www.apostilando.com.br, Apos
tila Slackware server, 23 / 10/06 release. The story of the servers obviously ha
s to do with computer networks. Networks allow communication between different c
omputers, and with the growth of these, the idea of devoting some computers to p
rovide some service to the network, while others would use these services. The s
ervers would be responsible for the first function. File Server: Server that sto
res files of various users. Web server: server responsible for storing pages fro
m a particular site, ordered by customers via browsers. Server e-mail: server re
sponsible for storing, sending and receiving electronic mail messages.
17
Print Server: Server responsible for handling requests for printing files of var
ious clients. Database Server: Server that owns and manipulates information in a
database, for example, a user registration. DNS Server: Servers responsible for
the conversion of Web site addresses into IP addresses and vice versa, or syste
m of domain names. Proxy server: Server that acts as a cache, storing Web pages
recently visited, increasing the speed of loading these pages to call them again
.
18
4.3. Communication Protocols I and II
Protocols also widely used on stage held, even if they seem not mean much becaus
e hardly speak them, but they are the most important in a computer network for c
ommunication both software as well as the network itself. For the same firewall
that has been created on the server, let it released some doors where they relea
sed some services and blocking others, services that use this protocol to commun
icate this, if MSN, ftp, ssh, pop, among others. Strictly speaking, protocol mea
ns, something that has a pre-ready for something to be used, with resources allo
cated to it, or even, is the standardization of laws and procedures that are wil
ling to perform a particular task. (Handout) www.apostilando.com.br, 108_sistema
soperacionais.doc, 15/09/2006 In data communication and networking, protocol is
a standard that specifies the data format and rules to be followed. Without prot
ocols, a network does not work. A protocol specifies how a program is to prepare
the data to be sent to the next stage of the communication process. Protocols f
or Internet and to network in the event TCP-IP that was used to setup our networ
k because it is a routable protocol, form the group of communication protocols t
hat implement the protocol stack on which the Internet and most commercial netwo
rks work. They are sometimes called "TCP / IP", as the two most important protoc
ols of this model are: TCP - Transmission Protocol - and it works like IP addres
sing each point as if they were numbers to their homes identification on each st
reet. POP3 also used in our network to send and receive e-mails is a protocol fo
r remote access to an electronic mailbox. POP3 is defined in RFC 1225 and allows
all messages in an electronic mailbox
19
can be transferred sequentially to a local computer. Then the user can read inco
ming messages, delete them, answer them, store them, etc.. SNMP management proto
col is a typical TCP / IP, application layer that facilitates the exchange of in
formation between network devices. SNMP enables network administrators to manage
network performance, verify certain difficulty find and solve network problems,
and plan the growth of this for a better use of it, there are several network m
anagement programs such as free Look @ lan also mrtg who always seek to use it.

PRESENTATION
E
DISCUSSION
OF
TASKS
CARRIED 5.1 Activities Carried
Performed on stage was carried out a new system in network technology to be very
outdated and over current technologies. Activities developed in a report which
was generated in which came under discussion which would be necessary to change
to improve network performance and agility also of its users. Made changes where
we started before there was a server running Windows 1998, and where their cust
omers were also all Windows 1998 servers acting as indeed, as a working group wi
thout a certain organization in the data,€where it became a slow network without
a dedicated server application or print it all had shares without an organizati
on of folders and unsafe because there was not even a firewall to block certain
applications that users were accustomed to accessing.
5.2 Results Achieved
The results were the best for after the installation of a dedicated server with
Fedora Linux network has become faster and safer, with the blocking of certain a
pplications made to the iptables package that comes with the distribution, A pro
xy server mounted with Squid, without telling the server application dedicated t
o SAMBA, where we centralized control through folders by user-level access and D
epartments. A dedicated server also Print this same machine afin leaving all cen
tralized network impressions through a multifunction printer laserjet and the ot
her two on another machine. It was also made up of all applications and data tha
t the company had in its machines and modified the operating system of client ma
chines from Windows 98 to Windows XP. With this organization, the difference was
felt by all, once it became a network with more security and speed up everythin
g for customers who make use of it there.
21
4.3. Difficulties encountered
In the case of backup and reinstallation of some applications were found some di
fficulties. Also in the assembly of the print server when the printer setup. Ano
ther point I left to be desired, because it did not have much knowledge of it wa
s in the installation and configuration of Squid but with determination and sear
ch for information on configuring it, I could leave it running perfectly with th
e restrictions created black lists for users not having access certain sites.
22
6.0 CONCLUSION
Thanks to a good dedication to deploy, the system is in perfect condition, opera
ting without any problems. I believe in how I achieved both general business nee
ds as mine too, because in the beginning I felt a little embarrassed to begin de
veloping the system but with the passage of time, I was looking for information
and losing the fear in the first study, I managed to develop it, quietly and I b
elieve that above all quality. The company also by what I see was very pleased w
ith the new system and I believe that from now on is to learn and learn, because
only then we can always get something else in our lives never giving up, as all
days are days to be if learning and therefore able to develop all this.
