The installation can be accessed via our file server under \\141.217.43.104\data\software\Dassault
Systemes\AM_SIM_Abaqus_Academic.AIIOS

Or on the silver Msata external hard drive.

Before anything, in order to install Abaqus, you will need to be registered and connected to the WSU-
ENG network otherwise you will be unable to install the software. Refer to the WSU-ENG Wireless
Registration guide for help.

Go to the folder labeled 1.

 First step - install all of the Prerequisites. Do this by clicking on win86_64

Right click on each one of the .exe files in the folder and select Run as administrator to install each
one. *(Note mpi_3.0x64.msi cannot be ran as an admin.)
Next, navigate back to directory 1 and right click on setup.exe and select Run as administrator

Click Next
Click OK
This error is common, dont worry because as long as you followed the first steps of the guide you have
already installed all of the required prerequisites. Click Continue

Click Continue

Click Next
 Click Next

Select Abaqus Product, then click Next

For License server 1 (REQUIRED) enter 27600@falcon.eng.wayne.edu

This is where it attempts to check out a license for Abaqus.

The above is an example of an error that occurs if you are not connected to the WSU-ENG network, if
youve typed the license server information wrong, or may be a rare occurrence which Ill show at the
end of the guide how to fix.
 Click Next

Click Continue the documentation is not necessary to install.

Click Next

Click Yes

Click Next

Click Yes
 Click Install

The installation starts, usually it takes about 30 minutes to an hour.

 Generally it will verify to make sure each step is correctly setup, but this isnt necessary.

If it prompts you to restart, click Done to restart your computer now. Otherwise select No, I will
restart my system myself to do it later.
Start up ABAQUS CAE in order to test the installation. Click Allow access to the Windows firewall
prompt if it occurs. If you get a license error like below, follow the rest of the guide. If not, youve
successfully installed Abaqus.
This error will mean one of two things, either youre not registered and connected to the WSU-ENG or
WSU-SECURE network, or you will need to change the license type from Research to Teaching.
First go to the Abaqus installation directory. By default its installed under C:\SIMULIA. Follow the
pictures below to navigate to the correct folder.
Open abaqus_v6.env with Notepad.exe.
Scroll all the way to the bottom where youll see academic=RESEARCH
Change this to academic=TEACHING then save the changes.
Open ABAQUS CAE again and it should be fixed like the above.
