Note well in this photo of the evening in Europe and Africa, on a cloudless day,
taken from a satellite in orbit. Notice how the lights are already lit in Paris
and Barcelona, but not in London, Lisbon and Madrid the sun is still visible. I
n the middle of the ocean can identify the Azores, below the Madeira and further
Canary Islands and Cape Verde. Most impressive is the perfect viewing of the Co
ntinental Shelf from the British Isles to Canada and Iceland to the center.

These first pictures of a satellite, show us the beginning of an evening of any
day in Brazil. The first picture gives us a real view and the second via a satel
lite effect, enhances the city lights. The other two, following the same scheme,
mostramnos dusk in North America, highlighting the huge amount of lights in the
U.S. cities. In the Caribbean stands out the high luminosity of Puerto Rico, es
pecially in metropolitan San Juan to the north and across its coastline.
This region is the lighter blue Brazilian continental shelf.

The same geographical point to another feature highlights other satellite towns.
For example: The bright spot above the Sao Paulo region is the region of Campin
as. The northeast state capitals stand out a bit more than other cities.
This photo gives us a vision of the United States at dusk. If the amount of city
lights highlighted by the surprise, watch the next slide, which details a littl
e more and show many other U.S. cities.
The middle of the picture, we see a greater number of cities, but the amount of
lights is hard to know what is! In California, it is still unclear.
