Brag Sheet

1. What do you plan to study as a college major and why? What experience do you have which will
help you prepare for that major?
I plan to study mechanical engineering, because I love building, and i love robotics. As a focus, Id love to
focus on aerospace engineering. I have experience with MESA, Robotics, and being in a school that
focuses on engineering as a whole.
2. What course was the most challenging for you over the past three years? How did you grow from
this experience?
Arguably, my English classes as a whole have been the most challenging, with my AP English Language
class being the most difficult. I grew, because it helped give me a work ethic, and due to the nature of the
class, it gave me a better sense of teamwork/leadership, and overall, despite being tough, the rewards
were highly beneficial.
3. Have you taken any additional classes outside of school that are not on your transcript? If so,
please list the class, school attended, and grades.
no
4. Pick three original adjectives that you believe would best describe who you are? Then explain why
you selected them.
Determined- I am constantly determined to accomplish goals. I am determined to go for the gold, and
achieve the best I can do. And if I miss my mark, I am determined to fix whats wrong.
Innovative-I am very innovative, in that I try to come up with new ways to do stuff. Albeit, some of my
ideas are not top caliber, but, as with my determination, I will try to have the best idea.
Competitive- While the previous two words were purely positive, this is a bit of a positive, and a negative
simultaneously. I have had a competitive nature help push me into doing things, and help me go the
extra mile in various activities. However, i have on occasion accidently used my competitive nature to my
disadvantage, and done things I was not fully experienced with. Well, at least I got experience doing it.
5. What event or activity (positive or negative) has had the most significant impact on you in your
life and shaped you as a person? Why?
I think entering San Diego High, and entering on the basis of engineering was the biggest impact on me.
Before hand, I loved science, but when I entered this school, I had realized, I put myself on a course. This
is when I focused on science as a career, and said I want to follow through on this. From there on out, I
had a focus to science.
6. Please share one leadership role you have held during high school and describe how it has shaped
who you are as a person.
This year, I was elected chief engineer of robotics. While it wasnt like the traditional officer positions,
(president, VP, treasurer etc.) I still have had to adapt, and become more of a leader. Because of my
position, I have had to work with both experienced and skilled builders, and untrained rookies. Now,
honestly, a reason that would previously have shown poor leadership is that I do not like to deal with
those who do not know their stuff. But over time, I have gained the patience, and understanding to work
with a wide range of people.
7. Please describe any academic or personal barriers and how you have overcome them. How have
they interfered with your academic performance?
While I am competitive as a person, I am also shy externally. This barrier has not hurt my academics
directly, but it did stunt me personally. I was not neccesarily sociable until high school, and there, I had
slowly become more social. I do regret being shy, because I might have lost out on some friends, in
addition to possibly losing out on networking oppurtunities in the future. However, that was the past. I
try not to dwell on it, and focus on the future.
8. Is there any additional information you would like your colleges to know about you that you will
not be able to share in your application?ww
Well, like fun facts? I scored a 125 IQ on a Woodcock-Johnson IQ test administered by a college student.
In addition, I am also trying to write music and scripts on the side. While entertainment is not likely in
my future, I'd like to try and put out some of my ideas.
9. **What would you want the admissions office to know that they could not learn from your school
records or application? Possible topics may include greatest strengths, most unique
characteristics, significant family events, personal obstacles, and how you cope and overcome
challenges.
Over my years of school, I have gained and lost many friends. I think one of my strongest features, is that
I have been able to not be held back by this. From elementary (I was actually in two), to middle, to high
school, I have seen a lot of faces go by. And overall, I have handled this well. I think mostly this is because
I have had a few core friends who have been with me for years, one specifically, arguably my best friend,
Aiden Moreno, I have known for almost ten years. So, this strength of resilience to losing people will
really be put to the test, as I will likely be going to a school where I don't know ANYONE. The culture
shock will likely be massive, and I don't have family or friends in other states. So while I am nervous for
the future, I will be also excited about college, and hopefully, I can make new friends, and stay in contact
with my old friends.
10. **Please explain any extenuating circumstances/comments/additional information you would
like to share (i.e. extended absence due to illness, other school attended during high school,
learning disability, special talents, etc.)
Well, I was forced to move out of my house, and now my family is kind of fractured. My old house was
under a trust, owned by some of my older relatives. Well, now they want to sell, and they don't want to
wait until I'm out of high school. My mom begged her mom to just wait, but that came up fruitless. A
large amount of my moms side is with us, that we should have been allowed to stay, so there isnt much
support. Also, there is shady stuff going along with the sale, so this is only fueling the fire, that is burning
the bridges between my moms family. So, it's a long story, so, since i'm turning in this paper, I will put
the rest of the story on my website.
