Sika MonoTop -615HB

Light Weight Repair Mortar

Description SikaMonoTop-615HB is a one component, thixotropic, high build,

polymer modified, cementitious mortar containing Silica Fume.
SikaMonoTop-615HB cures to produce a waterproof light weight mortar
able to be applied in thick layer to vertical or overhead surface.

Uses - Fast repairs to overhead, horizontal or vertical concrete or mortar

surface.
Construction

- Filling/repair mortar for voids, honeycombed areas, etc.

- Repair of spalled concrete caused by reinforcement corrosion.

Advantages - Fast and easy to apply to clean, sound substrate in layers up to 50 mm

thick, (overhead surface) and 60 mm thick (vertical application).
- One component system requiring only the addition of clean water.
- Compatible with the thermal expansion properties of concrete.
-Chloride free.
- Non-corrosive to reinforcing steel.
- Non-toxic.
- Fibre to prevent micro cracking.

Important Notes - Store SikaMonoTop-615HB in a dry area.

o
- Mixed SikaMonoTop-615HB hardens slowly under 8 C.
- Apply only to clean, sound substrates that have been dampened and primed.
- Mix to a uniform consistency (no lumps)
- A small reduction in the water gives a stiffer mix.
- Repairs with SikaMonoTop System cannot bridge live cracks or joint
etc.
- Repairs in excess of 60 mm must be layered in several coats.
- SikaMonoTop mortars that are wetted during the initial cure period
may produce a white "bloom" on the surface which does not affect the long
term properties of the mortar.

Instruction For Use High quality, long term repairs can only be achieved if they are carried out
conscientiously by experienced applicators giving adequate attention to details
relating to surface preparation, priming of concrete and steel, mixing of repair
mortars, application and curing.

Substrate Preparation Substrate must be sound, free of loose or weak particles, dust and dirt.
Oil and wax containing layers, as well as laitance must be completely removed.
The substrate must be throughly wetted down prior to the mortar application.

Mixing SikaMonoTop-615HB can be hand mixed in small amounts. (easily up to
3 kg of powder). Fill sufficient clean water into a small container. Add
SikaMonoTop-615HB to the water and hand mix thoroughly with a
spatula or trowel until a smooth workable consistency is achieved. Always
respect the water : powder ratio (1 part of water for 5.5-5.8 parts of
powder by volume). If a mix has thickened due to delayed application,
do not dilute further with water.
For large repairs, mechanical mixing (of the whole bag) using a drill
and a paddle is advisable. Pour water in given quantity in a clean drum
and add SikaMonoTop-615HB slowly while mixing. Use a low speed
electric mixer for 3 minutes avoiding entrapped air. Follow the ratio 3 to
3.2 Ltr of water per 20 kg bag.

Application -SikaMonoTop-615HB can be applied by wet-spray equipment or manually

by trowelling.
-If, in the area to be repaired, steel reinforcement is exposed, SikaMonoTop-610
reinforcement protective coating, must be applied in two layers (refer to
SikaMonoTop-610 datasheet).
-SikaMonoTop-615HB has a good bond strength to the concrete. However,
SikaMonoTop-610 can be used as a bonding agent for achieving highest
mechanical performances. The application of SikaMonoTop-615HB onto
the bonding bridge SikaMonoTop-610 must be wet on wet.
-For thickness greater than 60 mm on vertical surface, SikaMonoTop-615HB
must be applied in several layers.
- As soon as the mortar has started to set, it can be smoothed by wooden
or synthetic float or a styrofoam block
.
Curing - Sika MonoTop -615HB cures with low shrinkage. To prevent premature
drying out of the mortar, keep it moist if exposed to strong sunshine as wind
- Standard curing methods are recommended.
- For very fine surface finish, the application of Sika Refit L is
advised.
Consumption Guide For 1 ltr. of fresh mortar approx. 1.45 kg. of powder are required.

Cleaning Remove non hardened SikaMonoTop products from tools and equipment
with water. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
Safety Instructions
Safety precautions SikaMonoTop-615HB is caustic (cement). Protect skin and eyes from
contact with mortar. Wear protective clothing and goggles while working
with the product.Should the material enter the eyes, rinse immediately with
clean water and seek medical attention.
Toxicity Non-toxic
Transport Non-hazardous.
