The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) arrested 29-year-old Chintya Iyo,
locally known as the queen of drugs in front of her house at the Masnaga housing complex in Bintara Jaya, Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday.
According to the local community, 15 lives have been claimed since
2006 due to overdoses linked to drugs sold by Chintya. Kamal, a security guard, said residents believed that the suspect was working with others.
The deputy to the BNN chief on eradication affairs, Brig. Gen. Deddy Fauzi Elhakim, said that the agency had confiscated 4.18 grams of heroin from Chintya and that the drugs would be used as evidence in court.
Around 30 people, including 15 in the housing compound, have died
after taking drugs from the suspect, he said.
Deddy added that Chintya participated in a rehabilitation program for
drug abuse in 2004, but that she subsequently became a drug-dealer. During a questioning session, Chintya admitted that she began selling heroin four months ago sourced from suppliers in Jakarta.
