Limericks and Haiku
There are numerous types of poems, from silly limericks to the serious dramatic
poetry. Limericks are like haiku, in that they are short poems with a certain nu
mber of lines.
Following is an example of a funny limerick by Edward Lear:
There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, 'It is just as I feared!
Two Owls and a Hen,
Four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!'
