Observations/ Account Reflections & Critical Response

(What Happened?) (What do I think of it? What went well? What
could be improved? How? What will I do
differently? How does this connect to the
theory I have read from class?)
- I did not teach more than 10 minutes. - This was my first Math lesson with my
students. It took them five minutes just
to sit down and another 10-15 minutes
with the teacher for an ongoing activity
they have been doing. It was tricky for
me to chunk all my 30 minutes lesson
into 10 minutes lesson.

- Students had a hard time catching up - I almost always forgot that I am teaching
with my words. K3, not Grade 3. My way of explaining my
lessons were too abstract for them so I
had to choose simple words.

- They appreciate being encouraged to - After explaining the lesson, I asked the
come up with their own examples. students to come up with their own Math
problems that are related to the lesson.
And surprisingly, they could do it without
the teachers help. In fact, they loved
doing it so much that we almost missed
our last minutes to do the exercise sheet.
I have learned how to make the students
have fun and make them learn at the
same time. And I also learned that I
should prepare a time-limit for them to
know when to start and when to stop.
