LA MER Project, Jumeirah Open Beach (JOB)
The general scope of work includes demolition and removal of existing three (3) breakwaters- NORTH Breakwater,
SOUTH Breakwater and the CENTRAL Breakwater, and the construction of Rock Revetment around the footprint of the
new NORTH PENINSULA, SOUTH PENINSULA and HEADLAND. The Scope includes dredging and reclamation works,
beach nourishment and re-profiling. The overall Project Master Plan envisages high quality beach amenities including
the Beach Zone, a Leisure and Entertainment Hub at the Center Head land, and a mix of Residential and Hospitality
units at the North and South Peninsula (by Others) after completion of the dredging, reclamation and shore protection
works are completed.
Project is being executed to high standards of quality and safety as per exacting standards of performance set by client
MERAAS and Consultant SOGREAH and Dubai Municipality (DM)

The work consisted of dredging, reclamation & shore protection works involving demolition of 900,000 cubic meters and
removal of 3 existing breakwaters (North, South & Central) and required construction of new rock revetment around the
new footprint of North peninsula, South peninsula and Head land.
Works included removal of stabbits (approximately units of 6T) and placement of 5 Million Tons of 3-6 Ton armour rocks,
0.3-1ton under layer and 1-500kg core quarry run. Part of these removals were reused after testing for suitability of rock
to project specifications. The other elements demolished include concrete stair case, berth, quay and concrete blocks,
pavement (interlock tiles and asphalt), other associated utilities and concrete barriers.
Dredging and Reclamation Works- Estimated sand reclamation of approximately 7.3 Million Cubic Meters with vibro
compaction. Burrow areas 25 37 nautical miles away from shore.
LA MER Project Scope
Project is being executed to high standard of quality and safety as per exacting standards of
performance set by Client MERAAS and Consultant SOGREAH and Dubai Municipality (DM)
Environmental management as per DM approved Construction Environment Management Plan
Works being done 24x7 with more than 30 units of vessels on site including Feeder barges, crane
barges, tug boats, crew boats, with a continuous supply of rock material both from sea and by land.
Rocks being placed accurately in position by both RTK systems. Dumping of quarry run is by both
Direct dumping from Feeder barges and Land side dumping by Dumpers.
Projects Link has been involved in value engineering, design reviews and has formulated economic
approaches to marine construction using both access from sea and land.
Project is equipped with a tidal gauge, a Metocean Wave rider and two environment monitoring buoys
for continuous data on tides, wave heights, swells, and environment parameter of water temperature,
turbidity, dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH and conductivity.
