To Whom it My Concern,

I am writing this letter of recommendation at the request of Kathy Le, one of my

students at John Overton High School in the Engineering Academy pathway. I feel
very qualified to provide insight into Kathy and her academic experience so far.

Kathy entered the Engineering Academy as a Sophomore in 2014 and was in my

Foundations of Technology Engineering class. This class is an introductory course for
our curriculum and examines aspects of industry with regard to Architecture,
Engineering and Design. Kathy was very active in these classes and asked
questions and joined in discussion during the course of our projects. She was able
to function well as an individual or a part of a team or a group.

She took the class as a dual-credit option with Nashville State University and was
one of two individuals who was able to complete all of the requirements and gain
college credit. At that time she was not sure what she would want to do for a
career.

During her Junior year, Kathy and several of her friends in our schools Cambridge
program would come to my room for lunch. We often discussed ways that we could
better meet student needs in our course offerings as a school. Kathy was always
able to express herself very well and it was easy to see that she was thinking about
how schools worked. One thing that she inserted herself into was our schools Beta
Club. She and some of her peers worked very hard with the Beta Club sponsorship
to ensure that it continued during a period of transition. She ran for club President
and was elected by her peers.

This year she expressed her interest in becoming an educator to me. I would never
suggest to any student that they become a teacher, however if they seek out the
career path I am all too glad to assist, as we need good teachers and they are
difficult to find in this day and age.

I would like to recommend Kathy as an individual who loves to learn, enjoys working
with others and has a vision for how things need to be. She is a hard worker and is
able to communicate her ideas very effectively.

Please feel free to ask me any questions that you may have in addition to my
comments,

John A. Marshall
