Installation instructions

Digital Wallcollection

November 2009 Substrate

> The substrate must be level, fixed, permanently dry, grease and dust free and,
depending on the material to be hung, uniform in colour.
> Remove and/or isolate ballpoint, oil, pen and pastel crayon marks, etc.
> Remove old paper. Do not use lining paper.
> Prime normally absorbing substrates including plastered/rendered walls using
Vescom primer/sealer in the ratio of 1 to 3 of primer and water, respectively. Have
this dry for 5 hours under favourable conditions.
> Prime strongly absorbing substrates such as concrete, gas concrete, plasterboard
and plastered walls using undiluted Vescom primer/sealer. Have this dry for 5
hours under favourable conditions.
> Wash painted walls with a solution of water and an environmentally-friendly
degreaser. Next, rub it down (= make it porous).
> Fixate sandy, powdery and non-fixed substrates.
> Impregnate thin layers of plasterwork.
> Isolate and fill, if required, screw and nail heads using a filler that adheres
appropriately and does now powder.
> Use Vescom adhesive 3000 with non-breathing (permanently sealed) substrates
such as pre-treated or galvanised metal, plastic and painted surfaces. Untreated
metal must be pre-treated in advance.
> The substrates temperature must be at least 10C. The construction moisture level of
the substrate may not be more than 6%.

General
> We recommend applying the Vescom primer/sealer using a square brush.
> The wallcovering will be easier to remove after a length of time by using an
undiluted Vescom primer/sealer.

Vescom adhesive
Only use Vescom adhesive to obtain the best results.
We recommend using Vescom 2000 adhesive for the Digital Wallcollection.

Stir the Vescom adhesives appropriately before use. Vescom 2000 adhesive may be
diluted by at most 6% depending on the conditions such as, for example, the
temperature and/or the state of the substrate and the wallcovering type. Always seal
the adhesive packaging correctly. Shelf life: 9 months.

Tools
Use a square brush in corners, the ceiling and the skirting and use a short-pile synthetic
sheepskin roller for wall surfaces. Clean tools using water.

Adhesive application
Vinyl qualities with a non-woven rug: 5-6 m2/kg.
Vescom primer/sealer

Dilution Consumptio
n
Normally absorbing substrates 1 part of primer/sealer and 10 m2/L
3 parts of water
Strongly absorbing substrates Undiluted 7 m2/L

The above consumption is indicative and will strongly depend on the substrate
conditions, temperature, air humidity and wallcovering type.

General processing
General: The wallcovering must be processed
in order. Follow the supplied drop plan.
Cut and separate the drops and remove the
white edges. Place the drops on the floor
overlapping each other. When the correct
position of the drops has been determined at
the top and bottom sides, stick crepe tape on
the overlap in-between the drops. Cut the crepe
tape carefully (fig. A). Use both halves of the
crepe tape as a guide to position the drops
correctly on the wall (fig. B).

Add a plumb line (using a black graphite pencil) in such a way that the material
overlaps the starting corner by 3 cm. Apply adhesive to the substrate (drop width 20
cm) using a short-pile synthetic sheepskin roller. Position drop no. 1 on to the wet
adhesive against the plumb line so that the material continues (i.e. overlaps) at the
ceiling, skirting and comer by a few centimetres. Next, smooth the material using the
smoother in the length direction of the drop on the wall so that the air in-between the
material and the substrate is completely removed.

The drop ends in the corner when it involves an inward corner. The material must be
stuck by at least 20 cm more when it involves an outward corner.
The Digital Wallcreator takes these conditions into account when determining the drop
plan.

Allowance and overlap

All Digital Wallcollection prints are supplied with a 5 cm allowance on each side to
absorb small deviations in sizes. 3 additional centimetres are, moreover, printed
(overlap) on both the left and right side so that the individual drops can be perfectly
aligned with regard to each other. The drop that will be hung most to the left will, of
course, only have this overlap on the right and, conversely, the most right drop will
have it on the left.
Installation Digital Wallcollection designs
Once adhesive has been applied to the substrate for the second drop, release the first
drop 10 cm at the seam and apply adhesive extra thinly. Paste the second drop dry
and overlapping on the 1st drop and smooth in the same way using a smoother. Make
a vertical cut of 4 cm at the ceiling through both overlapping strips using a Stanley
knife. Position the base of the Vescom cutting device on the wall behind both drops and
cut both drops in the vertical direction. Ensure that the overlapping strip is kept tight.
Remove the bottom strip after cutting. Close the seam and smooth the created space
using a smoother. Cut the allowance at the ceiling and skirting using a smoother and
Stanley knife after having hung 3 or 4 drops. Surplus adhesive residue must be
immediately removed using clean water and dried.

Important
Delivery mistakes can be determined after having hung 3 drops. Should you find
defects, please contact your supplier. Later claims cannot be accepted. Technical and
other data in these instructions apply as from the date that these instructions have been
published and will remain in force until new instructions are published.
