Thematic Dossier

COMMUNICATION, EDUCATION, TECHNOLOGY AND DEVELOPMENT

The naturalization of the presence of technological apparatuses in the most diverse

activities is one of the characteristics of contemporary society. Technological development,
from the point of view of common sense, is associated with the concepts of modernity and
development, sometimes masking the complex relations established by a given
technological model, as well as its impacts on the economy, culture, education and
development of a society. In this context, it is due to the academic world to reflect on the
effects of technology on society.

This dossier intends to present the state-of-the-art regarding the studies in the area of
Communication, Education, Technology and Development that are taking place in the
Latin American academic research and can only be thought from the interdisciplinary
perspective.

The focus on communication is justified by the role that the media plays in social
processes, a fact that is even more evident with digital technology. The focus on education
is supported by the incorporation of new technologies in educational processes, both in
classroom teaching and distance learning, as well as in the formation of a context in which
learners and educators have broad access to information through the media. Technology is
the link that fosters the discussion proposed in this dossier. Finally, development results
from the way a society deals with processes, including the production and use of
technologies, guided by the thought of which society it wants to be.

We invite scholars from the theme "Communication, Education, Technology and

Development" to send us unpublished scientific articles, studies and reviews related to the
theme, until March 30, 2017.

We will also welcome articles in the communication sciences that do not fit specifically
