ACTS

1
Jesus Taken Up into Heaven
This story is about Jesus being taken up into heaven as witnessed by
His disciples. This was the last time Jesus appeared in this world.
I did not see Jesus physically, but I believe in Him. I have faith in Him.
Jesus deserves the praise that we could offer to him, for He saved us from all
our sins. With all the proofs present that Jesus has really risen from the dead,
I believe that Jesus really existed physically. He now exists eternally in our
hearts, yet he is invisible.
Jesus, I will wait for the day of your comeback. I do not really know if I
will still be alive in this world at that time, but I hope that one day I will see
you. And you will embrace me because I have fought the good fight and
because I have never given up for you. I want to be baptized with the Holy
Spirit, and I want to live a life that leads to you.

Matthias Chosen to Replace Judas

The disciples returned to Jerusalem from Mount of Olives. The disciples
altogether prayed with the women and Mary, and his brothers. Peter stood
up facing almost 120 believers. It was made known here that the scripture
had to be fulfilled that Judas place of leadership must be replaced. Judas
bought a field with the reward he got from his own wickedness, and he died
there where he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines
spilled out. Two men, Joseph called Barsabbas and Matthias, were proposed
to replace him. Then, after casting lots, the lot fell to Matthias. Consequently,
he added to the eleven disciples.
There are two implications that this story has for my life: wickedness
has its own horrible consequence, and what has been stated to happen in
the scriptures will inevitably happen. Judas wickedness effectuates to his
tragic and creepy death. This is a lesson that teaches me to always obey and
not abuse the mercy and love of God. If the trust of God has been put on
your shoulders, it is your responsibility to obey Him wholeheartedly and
please Him through your deeds. The scriptures forecast the future, amazingly
telling the truth. The scriptures are amazing, for they do not lie even if these
scriptures are hundred or thousand years old since the day they were told.
This is nothing but a manifestation of Gods power.

2
The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost
God has done amazing and wonderful things in our lives, but we
sometimes still doubt and provide an escape out of the greatness of God.
The crowd have been amazed in the story, knowing that the disciples of
Christ were uttering words that can be perceived by anyone from different
nations. That scenario could actually be considered astonishingly miraculous.
Yet one man who belonged to the crowd reasoned out that the disciples were
maybe drunk, subtly emphasizing that what was happening was just
ordinary. Sometimes, we are this man. And we doubt even if there are strong
evidences of Gods greatness to lives of people. We sometimes become
close-minded, and we long for a valid and rigorous explanation that abides
with the teachings of science. To be intelligent is a good thing. But an
intelligence that sovereigns a human body makes the body compromised. It
should always be God who will be the boss of our lives.

Peter Addresses the Crowd

Peter claimed that they were not drunk because it is only nine in the
morning.
Acts 2:21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be
saved
God has promised us that there is assurance of salvation the moment
we have wholeheartedly accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord. And this
commands us to put Jesus in the center of our lives, implying that Jesus
should be at the core of our every small deed. We sometimes fail to do this
because the devil tempts us to choose not holy and righteous deeds but
pleasurable yet sinful doings. People who are not courageous and strong
enough to resist the devil do not accept Jesus as their Lord; and their priority
is not Him but themselves (their flesh, their desires, and their interests).
When we encounter such deceiving scenarios, we must be reminded of the
sacrifice both Jesus and our Father, although one, have given to cleanse our
sinful soul: Jesus death for being the Lamb of the Father. The greatest
sacrifice in the world is this. This should also be our greatest inspiration to
obey God in the midst of lust and temptation to do unrighteous things.
Acts 2:26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body
also will live in hope
Acts 2:28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me
with joy in your presence
The consequences of living with Jesus are embedded in these verses in
which all Christians can relate to, most especially those people who have
been enlightened by the presence of Jesus in their lives. We sometimes ask
about the things that perplex us (Why am I poor? Why am I born this way?
Why did she die? Why havent you helped me? Why did you let me lose? Why
am I facing unconquerable battles in life?) and complain badly about the
plans and things that we have received from God, not realizing that these
may lead us to no longer trust Him. This was me before, not totally as the
aforementioned description. But I have realized that Jesus never errs, even
slightly. Both the Father and Jesus are perfect. They are in control of our lives
as Christians. They know what is right all the time. We fail because of our
own mistakes. It is not Jesus but us who create our own punishments. The
causes of our turmoil and doubt are the sins the we commit. I wanted to be a
slave of sins before, so I suffered, feeling like a man jailed in a very dark
prison and unloving the solitude. I realized that we will never be isolated
when Jesus is with us. Trust me. Jesus lives in my heart now. And I will never
push Him away from me. His presence gives me gladness and joy, showers
me with hope, and teaches me the right path towards the right destination,
heaven.
THE KEY IS REPENTANCE. Repent and not only you but all your loved
ones around you will be blessed. You will receive the Holy Spirit. And you will
manifest to other peoples lives the name of Jesus and His power. All of you
will form a community that Jesus will never abandon.
Acts 2:40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded
with them, Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.

The Fellowship of the Believers

Believers are here for every believer, helping them grow in faith. Let us
all be the light and hope Jesus will use to help other people find truth.
I am a living proof that God never gives up on us. Let us relate our lives
before to those who are confused; they need help like how we needed help
before. We are all believers. And Jesus loves to see us all working hand in
hand to aid other people in conquering their battles in life. Fellowship is real.

3
Peter Heals the Crippled Beggar
The sitting beggar began to walk strongly.
Jesus can really perform miracles in our lives. Actually, he does
miracles every day, but these miracles are different from the miracles we
expect to see with awe and wonder. If we put our trust to God, miracles will
happen. There is nothing impossible with Him. Praise God.

Peter Speaks to the Onlookers

Jesus is really sovereign in our lives. I apologize, Jesus, for all the sins I
have committed and for the ignorance that I had. But I will turn from my
wicked ways through You for You.

4
Peter and John Before the Sanhedrin
Peter and John were truly courageous disciples of God. Like them, we
must always have the strong faith to Jesus Christ and undying grit to defend
His name. We must not deny God to anyone because He is the truth. No
matter what worldly punishments will be given, stalwart brevity is necessary
to please Jesus.

The Believers Prayer

Jesus, always help me to live with great boldness to abstain from
committing sins anytime sins tempt me. Please make me realize that we
should satisfy not the flesh but your name, God. Your miracles speak of your
might in our lives that we would never understand
totally. But I am always going to stay strong because your love is priceless.

The Believers Share Their Possessions

Jesus, help me to always be selfless and think for the common good of
all that I may always share your gifts in my life. Sometimes, I do not feel the
need to share what I have to other people because I think that they do not
deserve it because they did not work hard for it like what I did. But please let
me be always reminded that I do not possess anything in this world. I do not
own anything. All is yours, for you have just given me the authority to handle
the things that you give to me. And I know that you want me to handle them
in such a way that your gifts are shared by many people. Give me the
wisdom, Jesus, to always put you in the center of my life. Help me not be
greedy but generous in giving and sharing the things that you have let me
enjoy in this world. Amen.

5
Ananias and Sapphira
What had happened to both Ananias and Sapphira was indeed
shocking. I never really taught that their sin of lying to God would cause
them physical death and consequently eternal death.
God, I know that sins have the same nature, the devil, and that sins
will forever be sins. All sins have their own corresponding sanction. All sins
are against God. All sins, even if they seem tempting and pleasurable, can
cause the destruction of a persons relationship with Jesus Christ.
So I pray that you help me grow in faith and fear you. Even though I
abstain from lying blatantly to you, help me not be tempted by the devil in
the future. Help me know what is right in your eyes so that I may do them.
Jesus, I know that my life is not really mine. It is yours, so please make me a
better person. Give me the grace as I help myself know more about you by
reading the Bible. I do not want to die if my life is not lived for You. I trust in
you, and I give you all the concerns of my heart. I love you, but I know your
love for me is more real. So I will never waste that love. I will never be a
slave of sins. I will never be under the devil. Knowing that I am with you, I am
superior to the devil. The devil is inferior to us. I will never give up on this
fight, for my Boss is the greatest boss in the world. Amen.

The Apostles Heal Many

God can use us to perform miracles to lives of other people. We just
need to submit ourselves to God and trust Him with all our heart. Blessings
and miracles will overwhelm our lives.
God, please help me be a person who always depends on you in every
decision that I make so that I may be looked by other people as Your
instrument to perform miracles in their lives. Help me to do what You want
me to do so that I may be a worthy individual.
I thank you for giving me my family. And I thank you because You gave
me Shayne. She is the miracle of my life. You used her to change me and to
make me hear You. Thank you God because she was used as an instrument
of hope for my life. I desire a future where she is my life partner. Amen.

The Apostles Persecuted

Acts 5:29 Peter and the other apostles replied: We must obey God rather
than men!
God, let me always be reminded that Jesus is my Lord. In times of
trouble where I find it difficult to please people through your name because
they do not believe in You, help me be courageous to speaks words about
You to spread your message even if the devil has poisoned their minds. Help
me live a life that is pleasing to you even if it is not pleasing to other people.
As long as I am right in your eyes, I will never regret the things that I will do
and the decisions that I will make.

Acts 5:38-39 Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men
alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will
fail.
But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you
will only find yourselves fighting against God.
God, I know that we will never fail as long as our every deed is devoted
to You. No one will stop us from diffusing your words because no one can be
against us. We are with You. Help me be a man who would rather choose to
do your will for my life rather than my personal desires and aspirations. With
You, I know, God, that I am not lost. Amen.

6
The Choosing of the Seven
God, the world is compromised because of the devil. But despite this
fact, help us to build an increasingly productive community that will be
devoted on worshipping you. The devil may have been able to fool thousands
of hearts nowadays, I know, God, that your words are still more powerful and
more influential. And we are here to spread them. Amen.

Stephen Seized
Scripture: No one can be against a man who is with God. Acts 6:10 says,
But they could not stand up against his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he
spoke.
Observation: I have observed that atheists underestimate the claims of
believers, arguing that Christians are fool and that God is dead. But they
could not absolutely support their views with evidences that seem logical.
Christians claims are not just claims but truth. These are of great wisdom
because they are not of human origin. These are from God.
Application: I will live a life standing with God even if many people, most
especially unbelievers, will hate me. I know that I will gain more wisdom as
the Holy Spirit fills me.
Prayer: God, let me always be a man who stands with you. Let my decisions
be always based on your words. In times of temptations to deny You, please
let me be reminded of who you are in my life; you are my God.

7
Stephens Speech to the Sanhedrin
Scripture: Some people who know the laws of God do not obey them. Acts
7: 53 You who have received the law that was put into effect through angels
but have not obeyed it.
Observation: There are people who claim to believe in Jesus Christ or who
want to live a life of kindness and holiness, yet these people defy the laws of
God.
Application: Claiming to believe in God and accepting Jesus Christ as my
Lord and Savior, I will always obey His laws because the words of God are
perfect and life-changing.
Prayer: Jesus Christ, help me to always obey you and not be tempted by the
devil to do unrighteous deeds. Please help me be always reminded of your
love that we should not disregard. Make your words always clear to us, so
that we may be able to interpret them correctly, understand them fully, and
apply them in our lives absolutely. Amen.

The Stoning of Stephen

Scripture: Acts 7:60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, Lord, do not
hold this sin against them. When he said this, he fell asleep.
Observation: No matter how sinful we are, God is always willing to forgive
us and remember no more our sins as long as we have truly repented over
our sins.
Application: I will repent and will not be a slave of sins. God will help me to
discipline myself. Through Jesus, I will be enlightened, and the Holy Spirit will
reside in me.
Prayer: Jesus Christ, you know how much I love to know you deeply and
understand your plans fully. But I am just a human. So please help me to
understand that there are things that I will not be able to know and
comprehend even if I will be a genius. Help me understand that You not me
are God. Help me submit myself to You and resist the devil. I love you. Thank
you for your grace and mercy. You will always be my Lord, Jesus. Amen.

forces of the devil. Help me not to be affected by my feelings easily. Amen.

Prayer: God, help me. I know that I cannot transform myself, but I know that
you can transform me. So I will just let you work in my life. I am very willing
to be your instrument to spread goodwill. Use me, Jesus. I will never give up
on this fight. Amen.

Simon the Sorcerer

Scripture: Acts 8: 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because
your heart is not right before God.
Observation: There are people who engage in Christian activities, yet they
do not live like Christ and only intend to gain more knowledge about Him for
intellectual pride.
Application: I will be very interested to know more about Jesus Christ not to
show to people that I am well-read in teachings of the Bible but to show
genuinely that Christ has been continuously transforming my heart by
reading the Bible.
Prayer: God, through the name of Jesus Christ, inculcate in my mind that I
am reading the Bible not to display publicly and proudly to the people around
me that I am deeply versed about Your words but to know more about You
and to be the person that You want me to be. I also pray for other people to
be guided by You. I know that our imperfections will be made right through
your mighty name, Jesus. I would also like to pray for the people around me,

the lives of other people. Use me so that I may let other people see you
through me. Amen.

Saul in Damascus and Jerusalem

Scripture: Acts 9:26 When he came to Jerusalem, he tried to join the
disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a

already been transformed by God, but we just need to trust because God can
do the impossible.
Application: I will have the acceptance to always welcome people, whether
good or bad, in my life.

who believe in God.

antagonists of our lives because they blatantly do immoral things. They do

who teach me about good news.

The Riot in Ephesus

Scripture: Idolatry

Acts 19:28 When they heard this, they were furious and began shouting:
Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!

Observation: Many Christians are really unaware of why God does not want
any image of Him. Even if my understanding is insufficient, the Bible clearly
tells us that idolatry is a huge sin to God.

Application: I will live my words. I will only worship the invisible God. I will
help people around me to do the same.

Prayer: God, help me live as a Christian who worships only You. I pray for
this puzzled world. I pray for those persons who are blinded. Strengthen us
all. And grant us the grace. Amen

Acts 20:35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work
we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said:
It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Observation: The world is full of selfish people. Ruthless people love

wallowing in the pool of wealth, not thinking about the poor and the weak.

Application: I will work to be successful and wealthy not to build very

expensive mansions nor buy luxurious stuffs but to share to other people,
most especially my loved ones, the blessings of God.

Prayer: God, I have the dream of becoming an actuary today because I think
that you want me to have this dream. Correct my mind, God, and purify my
heart. I am desiring that you will be done in my life. I hope that this is your
will for my life too. I love you, God, and I really trust you. I give you thanks
for all the things that you have given me. Please let me know and feel what
are your plans for me. Amen.

would also like to pray that some of my greatest desires parallel yours. I love
you God. I give thanks to you. Amen.

Acts 21:31 While they were trying to kill him, news reached the commander
of the Roman troops that the whole city of Jerusalem was in an uproar.

Acts 23:11 The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, Take
courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also
testify in Rome.

Observation: Sometimes, I have fears and lack courage to share to people

the gospel. Sometimes, I think that people do not deserve these teachings or
that people might not believe that it is me who teaches about the words of
God because of their old perceptions about me.

Application: I will understand different people and how they look at life. I
will always speak of Gods plans, and I will always be a child of God.

the truth, the way and the life.

about You. Help me strictly fear you and follow your teachings. Help me know
what is really right, God. I know that all strengths come from you. Amen.

Arrival at Rome

Paul Preaches at Rome Under Guard

Scripture: God is real.

For this peoples heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their
ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their
eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would
heal them.

Observation: It is not enough to hear and read the Bible. What suffices is
that you apply them and you live like Christ.

Application: I will always seek God and apply in real life the lessons I am
learning from the Words of God. Although sometimes I become a skeptical
person, I will ask God to strengthen me.

Prayer: God, help me truly understand how You work even though I will
never understand your works and plan wholly. Give us all the grace, wisdom,
and mercy. Amen.
