Assalammuaikum and a very good morning to each and every one you.Before I begin to give a
speech,I would like to invite all of you to give thanks to the presence of almighty God,who has
given grace,so that we can gather in this blessed place.Ladies and gentleman Today I as a
dietician would like to share with all of you about the disadvantages and advantages about fast
foodin our life today.What is fast food?.The first thing that comes to my mind and all of you
when mentioning fast food is greasy,oily,unhealthy garb,yet most of us consume junk food on
daily basis anyway.People frequent them because of convenience (quick and cheap).In such a fast
paced society,people are eating more fast food then ever before.Did you know that most of
Americans citizen eat three burgers a week and that 81% of Americans consume junk food while
driving.It comes as no surprise,since people spend more time on the road nowadays including in
Malaysia.Fast food as wrote in wikepidea its mean the food that is prepared and served very
quickly.The world health organization defines health as physical,mental and social well
being.The National health Survey 2010 found that chronic conditions such as high blood
pressure and high blood cholesterol are more prevalent in the Malay community.We can do more
to adopt healthier lifestyle habits,and improve our health screening practices.As we all knows fast
food come from,western.There are variety of restaurants fast food such as Mcdonald,Kfc,Pizza
and Kenny Rodgers.As what I knows fast food refer to convenient and ready to consume,but it
does not guarantee that, it is nutritionally balanced and healthy for our life.Fast food may
includes chips,hot pies, sandwiches, burgers and kebab.It also includes drinks,for
instance,milkshakes and soft drink like coke and pepsi.As we all know nowdays the world
economy has become fast-paced,and this has forced people to transform their lifestyle in oder to
adapt to the changing pace.Nowdays family structures have evolved drastically with modern
mothers get out of work worn out with little strength to prepare a proper meal for the family.They
often option for an easier way of preparing a meal for their families.A number of nations have
been transformed to fast food nation with American society being on the lead followed by
Britain.American hosts the largest fast food industry in the world with outlets in over 200 foreign
nations.With conveniences around us and busy lifestyle,fast food industry has become more
appealing.It is an undeniable fact that fast food industry is a real threat to health of
nation.Well,there are also have the restaurants that provide healthy and organic food,but there are
not the rule but exception.A majority of fast food restaurant offer junk food to their client.

Im standing here because as a dietician I want to explain to all of you about the advantages
and disadvantages of fast food for people nowadays.Before that I just want audient here think
twise before deciding to eat fast food,why I said u must think before eat this food?This because
there are many health risks when it cames to eating food thats made within a matter of
seconds.As you guys know that fast food is not properly taken care.Why I judge this food not
properly taken care?Because what I know and as all of you can seen most of fast food is a ready
food and has been freeze before being surf and sell to people.It show maybe the bacteria can
grow easily inside this food.As all of you knows fast food is made from a lot of high saturated
fats and calories,if it isnt work off,then you can grow to become obese.Fast food might look
appealing and tasty,they contain a wealth of hidden health hazards which are not only dangerous
if eaten in large quantities but are a major cause of obesity,especially in children.There are
several disease that effect to the body who loves to eat fast food such as raising your blood
pressure,increasing the levels of bad (LDL) cholesterol,delaying your metabolic rate (the rate at
which you digest,process and eliminate food),weakening your immune system,desrabilizing your
blood sugar levels and reducing the ability if your colon to function properly.The effects of fast
food include nutritional deficiencies,obesity,increase cholesterol level,cardiac problems and many
other threatening health hazards.Eating fast food and leading a sedentary lifestyle leads to
obesity.Obesity leads to other complications like increase in the cholesterol level,blocking of the
arteries,the increased risk of coronary diseases,in addition the general physical discomfort posed
by the extra weight.Fast food is also addictive and hence it is very difficult to give up on their
greasy and fatty foods and carbonated drinks and switch to healthier options.

Today with the modern era all thing become fast,it also include the way we make a preparation
for our food. Consuming these ingredients regularly can lead to health issues including heart
disease,diabetes and cancer.Being aware of these effects is essential to determining whether fast
food is safe to include in your diet,particularly if you suffer from heart or digestive issues
already.Here I will list few fact about fast food.Firstly fast food is more calories which is survey
estimate that snacking caused people to consume 300 additional calories than what they normally
would.The biggest contributor to this snacking culture is Mcdonalds,which provides 43 percent

of junk food consumption.sencondly fact about fast food is addicting ingredient which is extra
sugar and food dye is put info fast food to make it more appealing.Its was believe that these
addicting ingredients are contributing to the growing obesity epidermic. According to the
Nutritional factsthat are posted on McDonalds Website,One big mac burger contains 540
calories and 29 grams of fat,which is 45 percent of the national recommended daily value based
on a 2000 calories and 29 grams of fat,which is 45 percent of the national recommended daily

calories and 25 grams of fat,which is 38 percent of the recommended daily value.The 32 ounce
Coca cola classic adds another 310 calories.Here I list few of disadvantages and advantages of
fast food.The disadvantages of fast food is lower quality food,more fattening.Fast food products
are often rumored to cause a variety of health problem.Ingredients that are artificial,high in sugar
or fat are not meant to be eaten on regular basis.Okay for lower quality food,I can describe theres
no doubt about it,fast food is made in a bulk production process,which tends to lower the overall
quality of food.More fattening is historically speaking,fast food been very fattening.The
production process involved in creating fast food added a lot greasy and fat content to
foods.However,as mentioned in the healty choices section above,this is quickly changing.While
most restaurants have your normal greasy burgers and fries,they also have started to offer grilled
chicken,fish,salads and healthy wraps.Since fast food restaurants became widespread,people do
not eat balanced and nutrios.That causes serious health problems later.Especially for children,to
eat balanced,healthy and nutrios is essential for proper growth.To eat so much fast food in
childhood might cause permanent growth disorders that might affect on children s psychology as
well.Rates of obesity increases invetably just as proliferation of eating fast foods.Obesity is not
just to be overweight.Its results significant health problems.In the age of fast food,obesity is the
most common problem.Junk foods are loaded with lots of fat,sugar,calories,salt and
carbs,therefore not all healthy.Eating excessive amount of junk food leads to obesity and
malnutrition.It also cut down the energy levels of the body.Junk food contain high amount of oil
and fat and therefore our body finds difficulty to digest.When we consume the fast foods in
excessive amount,major portion of the blood gets diverted to intestine and thus we feel drowsy
and encounter redueced concentration.Your liver also might be damaged due to fast foods
consumption.fast food are deficient in dietary fiber and micro-nutrients such as vitamins and
mineral.Fast food is kind of addictive,you get hooked on to it and continue eating it in an

uncontrolled way despite the fact that it not healthy.The more you consume,the more difficult you
will find for healthy.Cardiovascular diseases also can describe as disadvantages of fast food
which is if we regularly consuming fast food that is high in sodium and cholesterol can cause
damage to the cardiovascular system.Cholesterol can clog the arteries,increasing the risk of
having a heart attack or stroke.High levels of sodium from fries,sodas or enriched meat products
will increase your blood pressure,which can also increase the risk of heart attack or strok over
time.As your cardiovascular system is weakened it can be difficult to perform physical activities
that will alow you to maintain your health.

Ladies and gentleman as all of you knows most of people know days eat fast food.Some eat it
more often than others.Our taste buds tend to be different,so our opinions will vary from person
to person.Here I will list to all of you about the advantages of eat fast food.Firstly the person who
choose to eat fast food is the person who want to save their money.Fast food is usually much
cheaper than homemade meals and dine in restaurants.Because of that,it is the common meal
choice in societies today.Either then that why people love to eat fast food is because it is well
fast.There is very low or no waiting period.Food is usually prepared in matter of minutes and you
can be on your way.Most fast food restaurants also have drive thru which allow customers to
order even more quickly.Now we dont even have to get out of our cars to purchase food.When
compared to tradisional restaurants,you could be saving over an hour of time from ordering to
finish your meal.Fast food is also convenient to societies nowday which is food served is within
reach.A few walk from your home or office.There are everywhere and available anytime of the
day.As ladies and gentle man knows fast food does raise health concern.However,it careful,you
can find some option on the menu of a fast food restaurant that could be healthier.Salad are the
best choice.If you could choose between the fried and boiled options,order the boilded.Avoid
ordering carbonic drink when you are thirsty.Go for fruit juices,low fat milk and diet soda.Is there
anything better than plain water to quench your thirst?these day,nutrition information of the food
served (and ingredient used) is displayed in the menu card .You could always resort to the make
to order option that certain fast food outlets offer ,where you could restrict the use of ingredients
that are not healthy.As dessert does not play an important role in the fast food meal menu,you can
keep yourself away from delicious and tempting sugary dishes.

As dietician conclusion I can made here it is much healthier to eat from food made in the
customers own kitchen as the amount of fresh meat and vegetable used are under moderation,
and minimal amount of flavouring is added,providing the customer with a healthy meal rather
than a greasy take away.As a result of this pros and cons about fast food,people should care about
what they consume.Even if they consume junk food,they should know how to moderate their
consumption of fast food,and to balance it with eating healthy food,so that the negative effect of
fast food can be minimalized.However,it is wiser to consume healthy food than fast food.
