CALCULATIONS(Onlyfortheratiothatmadetherocketflythebest)
CH3COOH+NaHCO3NaCH3COO+H2O+CO2
1. Molarmass
NaHCO3(Bakingsoda)22.99+1.008+12.01+(16.00x3)=84.01g/mol
CH3COOH(Vinegarwith5%ofaceticacid)
12.01+(1.008x3)+12.01+16.00+16.00+1.008=60.05g/mol
10
CO2(Carbondioxide)12.01+(16.00x2)=44.01g/mol
2. Numberofgramsandmilliliters
NaHCO3(Bakingsoda)15.7g
CH3COOH(Vinegarwith5%ofaceticacid)150mL
CO2(Carbondioxide)5.28g
3. Numberofmol
NaHCO3(Bakingsoda)(15.7g)/(84.01g/mol)=0.187mol
CH3COOH(Vinegarwith5%ofaceticacid)((5/100)x150mL)/(60.05g/mol)=
0.12mol
4. Findthelimitingreagent
(MolofNaHCO3/itscoefficient)xCO2coefficient(0.187/1)x1=0.187
(MolofCH3COOH/itscoefficient)xCO2coefficient(0.12/1)x1=0.12
CH3COOHislesssoitisthelimitingreagent.
5. Findthemoloftheproduct(CO2)
MolofCH3COOH/itscoefficient=MolofCO2/itscoefficient
0.12/1=X/1
0.12.=X/1
0.12x1=X
0.12mol=X
6. Findgramsoftheproduct(CO2)
1molofCO2is44.01g
So0.12molofCO2is(44.01/1)x0.125.28g
