CHROMEBOOKS 101

I. Topic/Grade Level: An Introduction to Chromebooks

III.Goals and Student Learning Outcomes (Objectives):

Goal 1: Teachers will know how to care for a Chromebook.


Teacher Learning Outcome 1: Teachers will be able to demonstrate proper carrying of a
Chromebook.
Teacher Learning Outcome 2: Teachers will be able to discuss with students how to
charge and store their Chromebooks during the school day and at home.

Goal 2: Teachers will know the basics of operating a Chromebook.


Teacher Learning Outcome 1:Teachers will be able to perform logins to their students
Chromebooks and to the Wi-Fi system at the school.
Teacher Learning Outcome 2: Teachers will be able to lead students in the different
aspects of the Chromebook, such as the touchpad, the home screen, and various vocabulary
about the Chromebook.

IV. Learning Environment(s):


This is a blended learning experience. Teachers who are present will receive face-
to-face training, while teachers who cannot make it can do this online.

VI. Diversity / Differentiation:


The diversity in this training comes mainly from the different levels of
technological use. Some teachers are more able to use technology, while others are
still learning basics of any type of technology.

VIII. Prior Knowledge: Teachers will need no prior knowledge for this training.
Lesson Placement in the Unit: This is lesson 1 of 4.

Procedures:
1. Lesson Introduction / Anticipatory Set:
Teachers will be given 10 minutes to research anything they want to about
Chromebooks. They will be expected to write down at least 10 things that they find
most interesting.

2. Direct Instruction:
Teachers will be able to access the Google Slides/Powerpoint presentation from their
computers and it will be shown through the projector. I will go through the information
with them and answer questions about the information as needed.

3. Student Interaction with lesson content / Guided Practice:


Teachers will be given a Chromebook and asked to log in and connect to the Wi-Fi of
the school. Teachers will be given simple tasks to complete on the Chromebook during
training to evaluate understanding of training.

4. Review / Closure:
Teachers will be given the final 10 minutes to discuss with each other some of the
interesting facts about Chromebooks. They will try to present the ones that have not
already been discussed during the presentation.

IX. Evaluation/Assessment:
1. Teachers will be given a Chromebook and asked to log in and connect to the Wi-Fi of
the school. Teachers will be given simple tasks to complete on the Chromebook during
training to evaluate understanding of training.

X. Risk Analysis: Identify potential areas of risk, including hardware or software/app


related issues, logistical issues, and other possible general instructional issues. Provide

potential means of addressing those identified risks.
