Central University of Gujarat has been established by
an Act of Parliament (Act. No. 25 of 2009), the gazette
of India No. 27, published on 20th March, 2009 as a
new Central University. The mission of CUG is to
provide access to quality education and create
opportunities for encouraging students to effectively
engage with emerging innovations and technological
challenges, international competitiveness and
leadership in thought as well as in action. CUG is also
conscious of the importance of developing
entrepreneurial and scholastic abilities for creation of
knowledge, wealth and prosperity for the country as
well as peace and happiness for human beings.
About School of Life Sciences
The School of Life Sciences, established in 2010 in
Central University of Gujarat, offers academic
programs leading to M.Sc. and M.Phil./Ph.D. degrees
in Life Sciences. The students are offered pre-
M.Phil.-Ph.D. courses covering various aspects of
advanced research in Life Sciences. The nature of
courses are interdisciplinary, intricately integrated
with subjects like chemistry, physics and computer
science in view of close interface between biological
and physical sciences. The school has well equipped
Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) to support the
experimentation and high quality research. In
addition, well-equipped laboratories to facilitate and
conduct advanced research on mammalian cells, plant
cells, bacteria and viruses. The School of Life
Sciences will have the following programme for the
Academic Year 2017-18: (i) Ph.D. in Life Sciences
(ii) M.Sc. in Life Sciences
