9th ICT Congress 2017 Pitching Competition

The boot camp aims to encourage and inspire HEIs students and faculty to ideate, create and

innovate relevant products, services or technology that is potentially viable business ventures. The

initiative is to create a start-up ecosystem in the locality; solving real-life problems in the community and

industry.

Below are the mechanics of the ICT Congress Boot Camp.

Mechanics
Team
o School entries should be represented by a team of four (4): 3 Student Members and 1
Faculty Member as a Coach/Adviser/Mentor
o Team members are encouraged to have both technical and non-technical members
Student Member
Student participants must be enrolled any time between academic years
2016-2017
Mentor
Faculty mentor must have attended and completed the Tech-Startup
Faculty Development BootCamp
o Each school can submit multiple entries
Note: 1 Faculty is only allowed to be a coach of 2 Groups/Entries
o It is required to completely fill out and submit the Application Form and such other forms
as may be required.
Entries
o The entries to be submitted must have Innovative Ideas that show hardware/software
solutions address real-life problems faced by the community / specific industries.
o Teams may choose to submit an entry in the following tracks :
Mobile or Game Development
Web or System Software Development
IoT, Hardware Systems, Network Infrastructure Development
o Submission requirements:
Accomplished application form through this URL :
Two (2) minutes video pitch with the following content:
What is the name of the team, and the product, service or technology?
What problem in the society is the team trying to solve? Or any
innovation that the team intends to pursue?
What solution(s) shall the team provides for such problem(s)? Or how do
you solve the social pain?
Who is your target market? You may provide statistics
How do you get profit from it?
Copy of accomplished Business Model Canvas and Validation Board
For IOT, Hardware Systems, Network Infrastructure Development track, provide
schematic and or network diagrams
The file size of the materials must not exceed to 20 MB and uploaded to the
conference portal on or before Feb 12, 2017

Selection Process
o A selection committee shall review, evaluate and determine the teams who will advance
to the next phase of the competition.
The Selection Committee has the right to disqualify any incomplete or illegible
entries that they receive. They are not responsible for entries that they do not
receive for any reason, or for entries that they receive but are not decipherable
for any reason.

o There will be selection of Top 10 entries for each track that will be qualified to compete
for the final phase to be presented during the PSITE Caraga Conference
Each qualified entries will receive a feedback for final packaging of their product
presentation.
Each group should prepare 1 minute oral presentation and 2 minute video
pitching. The two minute video must be handed over to the committee on or
before 10 AM at the conference.

Criteria for Judging

o Concept [40%] market need, customer pain point addressed, technology uniqueness
and innovation being used and implemented
o Commercial Viability [35%] how the technology present opportunities for profitability,
sustainability and usability by potential clients across various industries such as
telecommunication, media, animation, healthcare, etc.
o Pitching [25%] the ability of the team to present well the technology they are
developing
o The decision of the panel of judges will be final and non-appealable

Award and Prizes


o The winning entry shall receive certificates and the following cash awards:
Php 5,000.00 for the winner
Php 3,000.00 for the 1st Runner Up
Php 2,000.00 for the 2nd Runner Up

o The winning entry shall also receive Php 100,000.00 development grant award to be used
by the winners to further their ideas and make their innovations a reality. The team will
be incubated at Caraga State University Incubation Hub.
o The cash and development grant awards may be revoked and a refund required if it is
discovered that the winners have provided misleading or erroneous information within
the submission or it is subsequently discovered that the submission infringes the
intellectual property rights of a third party.
