I am pleased to write a recommendation for Shelbi Giacalone. I have known Shelbi for the past few
years as she progressed through the Early Childhood Unified program at Pittsburg State University. I had
the pleasure of having Shelbi in several of my early childhood classes as well as a student in OUf

preschool lab. She completed two practicum experiences and a student teaching experience in the Little
Gorillas preschool. Shelbi is a hardworking student and her attitude carries over when working with
young children. She always maintained a positive attitude with both children and adults. She is a
patient individual and always treated the children with warmth, respect and kindness. She was creative
in the activities she designed for her classes and the children in the preschool. The children enjoyed her
ideas and methods during the gardening theme she planned during her student teaching.

Shelbi also was an active member of our Early Childhood Student Organization (ECSO). She was regular
in attending ECSOmeetings and participating in fundraising and community activities. I would
recommend Shelbi for any position where she would be working with young children.
