General Management $150,000 -5% salary from 2011, followed closely by
Governance $107,000 16% Product Development.
Manufacturing/ Production/Processing $84,000 2% Research and Development had the
Planning & Design $80,000 6% most significant decrease in base
Project Management $95,000 5% salary from 2011. Interestingly it was
Product Development $81,000 10% the second highest base salary in 2011
after General Management.
Quality Assurance $70,000 4%
Research & Development $88,500 -10% General Management remains the
Teaching/Training $92,000 -1% highest base salary for 2012.
Tender/Contract Management $92,500 5%
Other $77,000 1%

Base Salary and Total Remuneration of IPENZ Members by Type of Work

The tables below show the median base salary and total remuneration for full time employees by career stage and type of work.

Other benefits beyond base salary are a much more significant contributor to total remuneration for Members in General Management roles (18 per
cent) than any other type of work (between one and ten per cent).

When comparing remuneration by type of work at particular career stages, no obvious trend emerges, however higher overall median salaries in
Management and Governance related roles, including Project Management and Asset Management, reflects a greater opportunity to progress to
more advanced career stages in those work areas.
