Daily word problem (Math)

Objective: To add or subtract within 10 by listening to a

word problem.
Goal: To understand the words related to addition and
subtraction word problems and how to solve them.
K.0A.A.2. Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and
add and subtract within 10, e.g., by using objects or drawings to
represent the problem.
Instructional input: Teacher will tell a word problem. It will
be within 10, use manipulatives and use common math
language to reinforce concepts of addition and subtraction.

Materials: manipulatives
Math words:
Addition: add, altogether, both, combined, how many,
increase, join, plus, sum, together, total.
Subtraction: deduct, decrease by, difference, how many
more, how many left, left, less than, minus, remains, reduce,
remove, subtract, take away, change, gave away.
Checking for understanding: Does each student tell the
correct operation?
