Fish Eyes (Math)

Objective: To count by ones to ten.


Goal: To count from one on to ten.
K.CC.A.1. Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Instructional input: Teacher will read Fish Eyes by
Lois Ehlert and with each page/number, students will
put a fish on their board. In between each number
the students will count, starting at one, to the last
number they have with their finger touching each
one while they count.

Materials: Fish Eyes by Lois Ehlert book, fish


manipulatives, foam blocks, cookie sheet or ten
frame
Checking for understanding: Does each student
count starting at one?
Closure: How many fish are there in all?
Differentiation: Some fish have numerals on them,
and some do not, or just foam blocks
