Sequencing (ELA)

Objective: To sequence the events in The Very

Hungry Caterpillar
Goal: To sequence and retell the events of the
book.
(K.RL.2) With prompting and support, retell familiar
stories, including key details.
(K.RL.3) With prompting and support, identify characters,
settings, and major events in a story.
Instructional input: Teacher read book and
students will put the manipulatives in order
that they are read.
Materials: The Very Hungry Caterillar, by Eric
Carle sequencing cards.
Checking for understanding: Does each
student place the events in order? Can they
retell the story?
Differentiation: Depending on student,
asking for only one place only.
