Section A: Answer All Questions

1. List the three major types of electrical problems found in automobile.

(3 marks)

(1 mark for each)

Open Circuits
High-resistance Circuits
Low-resistance (short or ground).

2. Describe briefly the difference between electron flow and conventional flow.
(4 marks)

2 marks

2 marks
3. Describe the major advantage to a parallel circuit. Justify your answer.
(3 marks)

Solution:
In term of electricity flow, a parallel circuit has multiple paths compared with series circuit with
only one path (1 m).
As shown in figure, two bulbs (left and right headlamps) are wired in parallel mode, when one of
bulb is burn, another bulb still can working. (1 m)
Let say if the bulbs are wired in series mode, when one bulb is burn, the whole headlight system
will shut down. (1 m)
