APALSA Executive Board Elections (2017-2018)

Submission Deadline: Friday, March 24th by 5 p.m. CST. Email submissions to APALSA Vice President,
Jaime Ochoa, at ochoa13233@hotmail.com

Below is a list of APALSA Executive Board positions that are open for the 2017-2018 Academic Year. If
you are interested in running for a position and would like to be added to the ballot, please send an
email to APALSA Vice President, Jaime Ochoa, with your picture along with a brief paragraph*
answering the following:

1. Brief statement about yourself (e.g. name, where you are from, year in school, area of
interest, and other information that you would like us and APALSA Member voters to know);
2. What position you would like to run for;
3. Why you are interested in running for that position; and
4. How you will contribute to APALSA during the upcoming Academic Year.

*Please note that this information will be disseminated to APALSA Members for Election voting.

APALSA Executive Board Positions & Descriptions:

A. President
Preside over APALSA General Body Meetings and Executive Board Meetings.
Act as a representative of APALSA at DePaul University College of Law events and
external events.
Assist and delegate tasks to other officers of the Executive Board and members of
APALSA.
Ensure that the organization's operations comply with the standards set forth by
DePaul University and DePaul University College of Law.
Serve as a liaison between APALSA and other organizations at DePaul University
College of Law.
Maintain an updated APALSA Alumni database.
Maintain communications with APALSA Alumni and encourage Alumni attendance at
APALSA events.

B. Vice-President
Preside over meetings in the absence of the President.
Act as a representative of APALSA at DePaul University College of Law events and
external events.
Maintain communication with APALSA Faculty Advisor.
Serve as a liaison between APALSA and Student Body at DePaul University College of
Law.
Assist President in planning social events for APALSA (e.g. Inter-APALSA).
Oversee APALSA end of the year E-Board Elections.

C. Director of Communications & Publicity
Preside over meetings in the absence of the Vice-President.
Act as a representative of APALSA at DePaul University College of Law events and
external events.
Serve as a liaison between APALSA, Bar Associations, and other external organizations.
Maintain an accurate record of all board meetings and forward meeting minutes to
the board members.
Prepare and distribute monthly e-newsletters informing members of upcoming events
as well as scholarships, fellowships/internships, and volunteer opportunities.
Publicize APALSA and local bar association events on social media and through other
venues.
Maintain and update APALSA website and social media pages.
Coordinate event flyer distribution.

D. Director of Finance
Preside over meetings in the absence of the Director of Communications & Publicity.
Act as a representative of APALSA at DePaul University College of Law events and
external events.
Maintain accurate record of organization finances through budget sheet.
Make all room reservations and food arrangements in compliance with DePaul
University College of Law rules and regulations.
Raise funds for the Annual Scholarship Banquet and Reception.
Work with President and Vice-President in planning the Annual Scholarship Banquet
and Reception.

E. Academic & Professional Development Chair
Preside over meetings in the absence of the Director of Finance.
Act as a representative of APALSA at DePaul University College of Law events and
external events.
Maintain outline bank, mentorship program, and provide academic support to
members by working with the DePauls Academic Support Program (ASP).
Plan at least one exam preparation session per semester and community service
events for members.
Coordinate non-DePaul University College of Law activities including, but not limited
to moot court competitions, regional and national conventions and meetings, etc.
