 All EPB standards accepted for
publication
Average voting acceptance score about 85%
The overall framework as included in the
overarching standard EN/ISO 52000-1 was
accepted with a 90,85 % score at CEN level
and globally 95% at ISO level.

Committee of MSs on EPBD and the CA-project

The standards are accepted. The preparatory work to
produce the standards is done
The next step in Europe is to implement these
standards, provide support e.g. :
Where needed, help for developing national
Annexes/datasheets (=national choices in options, policy
factors and default data for each EPB standard)
promote the development of software and dissemination
products to ease the use of these standards
Handling feedback, FAQ, etc.
This is currently not supported by EU funds; it is up to
the market and member states to support this

Developing the national
annexes in line with national
regulation (step by step)
EPBD Annex I is proposed to amended
as follows:
Member States shall describe their
national calculation methodology
following the national annex
framework of related European
standards developed under
mandate M/480 given by the
European Commission to CEN

if we want a level playing field for our
energy saving systems/product!
Each Member State has its own building codes.
Today there is NO real harmonization (just the statement
that the national procedures are based on EPB standards)
Now the Set of harmonized EPB standards are available:
Opportunity to use these at national level via a by step by
step implementation of EPB standards
Producing national annexes is an essential part of this
implementation process, without central support, each MS
has to invent this by themselves.
Support MSs to implement harmonized EPB standards, and
by this rewarding innovative technologies, avoiding
certification programs per MS.

 Implementation of EPB standards supporting the
EPBD is essential and urgent
EPBD implementation via the regulation is up to the MSs.
Most of the MSs are aware of the interest of the building
industry and their stakeholders to use the EPB standards.
Implementation has to be supported by our industry, they are a
main factor in convincing the regulators responsible for EPBD
implementation. They are the stakeholders regarding the ECO-
design related product standards/regulation.
Applying the EPB standards connects both Directives.
Professionals have to be supported by their national
professional organisation (like REHVA members) to understand
the EPB standards and have the (software-)tools available to do
the daily job.
Professionals and industries have also a role in the
communication with their national Regulating Authorities.

 To organise the dissemination support &
Uphold and maintain central coordination
The highest priority for the EPB CENTER as
permanent organization is to organise the
dissemination and maintain the central coordination
of the overall quality assurance of the EPB set of
standards
collection and analysis of feedback on national
implementation of the standards.
Support of national implementation, FAQ, etc.
Development of tools, dissemination products and
software/certification schemes
This requires financial support from stakeholders

 How to implement EPB standards?
