The HUMSS strand revolves around improving a students reading, writing, and speaking skills because if you havent

noticed yet, people who choose

this strand are aspiring to become members of the society who will be be dealing with a lot of people. (e.g teacher, psychologist, lawyer, etc.) Honing
these skills are crucial for them to establish effective communication with people when they are working. For these reasons, half of the subjects
involved in this strand focus on Language and Speech. While Mathematics and Science are still included in their daily schedules, they are not too
difficult since they do not belong to the specialization subjects of the said strand.

Now, if youre thinking choosing the HUMSS strand is probably the easiest way to survive Senior High School, allow me to explain why youre wrong.
As stated above, the strand focuses on Language and Speech, which means two things: [a] yes, you wont be dealing with way too many numbers; but
[b] in turn, you will be dealing with tons of hand-outs and readings on various subjects.

Like any other strand, the HUMSS strand will only seem difficult if you take it up despite the fact that your passion and happiness come from something
else. But if your passion lies in learning more about people and how to deal with them effectively, then this just might be the right strand for you.

This course will prepare you for a career in management accountancy, management consultancy and business management.
If you choose to specialise in business management, you'll graduate ready for a business career with accountancy skills alongside. Over 50% of FTSE 100 CEOs

contexts within which they operate. Youll then deepen your business knowledge with options to study HR, international business, entrepreneurship, marketing and
more.
If you choose to specialise in accountancy, you can graduate as a 'part qualified' accountant but with a deep appreciation of its wider business context. You will
study in line with professional practice requirements and so maximise the number of accreditations and exemptions you will have upon graduation. Your degree
will be accredited with the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered
Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Association of International Accountants (AIA).
As with business, youll study financial and management accounting alongside the legal, business, and organisational contexts within which they work. Youll then
deepen your accounting knowledge with study options, including taxation, auditing, strategy, and contemporary issues such as social & environmental.
All students will have the chance to work on a finance or business project and enter the CIMA Global Business Challenge and compete with undergraduates
around the world.
Youll also follow your own business engagement programme which will give you first hand participation in live accounting or business environments. We call
this 'Make it' and it is unique to the University of Gloucestershire.
