The chip is comprised of roughly 1.17B (that's billion)
transistors and has a die size of about 248mm2.
It is produced using Intel's advanced 32nm manufacturing
process.
COURSE OBJECTIVES

 To know the sources of power consumption in CMOS


circuits.
 To understand the various power reduction techniques
and the power estimation methods.
 To study the power optimization of low power circuits.
 To study the design concepts of low power circuits.
COURSE OUTCOMES

 CO1: Understand the fundamental concepts behind the power


dissipation in CMOS devices and basic principles of low power design.
 CO2: Learn the different power optimization techniques at logic level
and circuit level and analyse in adders and multipliers.
 CO3: Learn the different design techniques of CMOS circuits like
arithmetic technique, advanced and special techniques. Understand
the design of CMOS circuits with low power clock and interconnect
layout.
 CO4: Understand the different methods of power estimation like
logic power estimation, simulation power analysis and probability
based power analysis.
 CO5: Comprehend various steps involved in synthesis of low power
design and understand the methods of software design towards
low power.

a. Scholarship of Knowledge: Acquire in-depth knowledge in Electronics & VLSI


system design with an ability to understand, apply, analyze and integrate the
same for enhancement of knowledge.
