Goal & Learning Intention: determine which CFA Time:

we are already testing from district required CFA Eviden
ce
Materials Needed for focused Discussion: 5 min
literacy gude
district CFA
1. How many students are below proficiency? And
above?

2. Did any teachers have significantly better results

than the other teachers? If so consider using the
instructional strategy this teacher used in the
planned intervention

3. Look at the students who didnt meet proficiency. If

possible create a hypothesis about why they may not
have expectations. Is there a deficit in prerequisite
skills? Are students concrete thinkers trying to
learn an abstract concept? Do students need
additional vocabulary instruction?

4. Using the hypotheses about students, plan how to

reteach the learning target. Decide how to group
students so that those who were proficient get
enrichment and those who werent getting extra
time and support.

5. If you dont have any new strategies to use to

reteach the learning target, examine best-practice
literature to learn new instructional strategies

6. Determine which teacher will provide intervention to

which students using which strategy.

7. Plan how you will reassess students at the end of

the intervention

Instructional planning:
Discussion regarding the district CFA meetings last Friday. Math seemed to get
more accomplished, looking ahead to future CFAs.

District feedback site.

Fiction/Nonfiction retelling: Pre-assess February combine our building CFA
using our checklist of identifying nonfiction text and the parts of a nonfiction text.
We can gather the information needed for the district CFA through our building
CFA. Still instruct using animal non-fiction. Use district graphic organizer to
begin research. Use building graphic organizers if needed for scaffolded support.
Sight words: checked for district CFA in April, we will check at end of each
trimester. Students that have met kindergarten expectations will be checked on
first grade words.
Kindergarten essential skills checked at end of trimester 1. Staci is emailing
Becky Williams to find out if the sheet is carbon copied and if they will be sent to
buildings for each student.
Essential skill: distinguish between fiction, nonfiction, poetry. The literacy team
will ask at our next district meeting about the types and number of books to be
used during this assessment.
