sorority. She is currently working a total of 5 hours per day
toproduce 100 care packages.

a) What is Loris productivity?

Labor Productivity =100/5= 20 package/hour

b) Lori thinks that by redesigning the package, she can increase hertotal
productivity to 133 care packages per day. What will be her new
productivity?

Labor Productivity= 133/5= 26.6 package/hour

c) What will be the percentage increase in productivity if Lori makes the

change?

The labor productivity has increased from 20 to 26.6. The change is

Percentage change in productivity =(26.6-20)/20 = 0.33 atau 33%

1.2 Chuck sox makes wooden boxes in which to ship motorcycles.

John and his three employees invest 40 hours per day making the
120 boxes.

a) What is their productivity? 120 boxes / 40 hours per day = 3

boxes/hour

to improve efficiency. rate=125 days

125 boxes / 40 hours per day= 3.125 boxes/hour

c) What would be their increase in productivity?

(3.125 3)/3.125 = an increase of a 4% in boxes/hour or of 0.125

boxes/hour
Soal Multifactor

SOAL 1.10 Kleen Karpet cleaned 65 rugs in October, consuming the

following resources:

Labor: 520 hours at $13 per hour

Solvent: 100 gallons at $5 per gallon
Machine rental: 20 days at $50 per day

(a) What is the labor productivity?

Productivity= Outputs/inputs(labor time)=65 rugs/520 jam= 0.125/ jam

(b) What is the multifactor productivity?

Multifactor Productivity= Outputs/inputs= 65 rugs/(520 jam x $13 +100
gallon + 20 hari x $50)

=7.86 rugs / $ 1000

SOAL 1.11 Brown's Local Bakery

Energy Change: Last year : 1500*12/3000 = 6.0 loaves/BTU

Now : 1500*12/2750 = 6.55 loaves/BTU
Percent Change: (6.55-6)/6*100= 9.17%

Terdapat peningkatan energy productivity yang berarti ada penghematan

listrik (energy)

Perubahan Labor:
Last year : 1500*12/350 = 51.43 loaves/labor hour
Now : 1500*12/325 = 55.38 loaves/labor hour
Percent Change: (55.38-51.43)/51.43*100= 7.68%

Terdapat increase in labor productivity Investment

Change: Last year : 1500*12/15000 = 1.2 loaves/$ investment
Now : 1500*12/18000 = 1.0 loaves/$ investment
Percent Change: (1.0-1.2)/1.2*100= -16.67%
Last year : 1500*12/(350*8+3000*0.6+15000*.0083) = 3.81
Now : 1500*12/(325*8+2750*0.6+18000*.0083) = 4.09
Percent Change: (4.09-3.81)/3.81*100= 7.35%

SOAL 1.9 Lillian Fok is president of Lakefront manufacturing

(a) What is the labor productivity for these tires at lakefront Manufacturing?
(b) What is the multifactor productivity for these tires at lakefront
Manufacturing?
(c) What is the percent change in multi-factor productivity if Fok can reduce
the energy bill by $1000 without cutting production or changing any other
inputs?

JAWABAN

(a) Labor Productivity:

LP= Total_Output/Labor_Input = (1000 Units/day) /(400hours/day)

= 2.5 tires/hour

(b) Multifactor Productivity:

MP=Total_Output/Total_Input=(1000 Units/day) / [ 400 hours x 12.5 $/hour +
20000 pounds/day x 1 $/pound + 5000$/day+10000$/day ]

= 0.025 tires /$

(c) Reduce energy in 1000$: (we have to calculate a new Multifactor

Productivity and then, calculate the increase)

=(1000 Units/day) / [ 400 hours * 12.5 $/hour + 20000 pounds/day * 1

$/pound + (5000-1000)$/day+10000$/day ]

= 0.0256 tires /$
